Solutions Engineer (NE Products)

The person is responsible for supporting solutions for Viavi’s Fiber, Metro/Optical NW, High Speed Ethernet, PCI and RF in Japan and take responsibility of high-level technical demonstrations of VIAVI’s solutions in front of customers. The person will closely work with the sales team (direct and indirect) and be expected to manage opportunity and issues with necessary resources in a proactive way.

Job Description:

  • Contribute to consistent business growth by providing unique expertise.
  • Cover all VIAVI portfolio for Fiber, Metro/Optical NW, High Speed Ethernet, PCI and RF including Radio Tester and PNT solutions.
  • Including any new products that VIAVI may introduce in these fields.
  • Understand real customer requirements. Set right expectation. Propose the right solution and demonstrate compelling value of our products.
  • Conduct product/solution demos and on-site trials, coordinating with sales and product divisions.
  • Conduct user training sessions for high-end products and help customers start-up with testing.
  • Create localized test procedure documents according to local customer needs.
  • Review of marketing document translations to best deliver key messages to public.
  • Transfer competencies and technologies to direct sales and channel partners (education).
  • Present Products and Technology at targeted road shows/seminars in the region covered.
  • Provide feedback to Division and contribute to their strategy preparation.
  • Share experience and best practices with pre-sales, sales, and division.
  • Collaboration with tech support, sales and divisions to solve post-sales problems in timely and efficient manner, to keep customer satisfaction high.
  • Analyze gaps and propose action plan to fill it.

Pre-requisites and Skills:

Technologies skill and knowledge to be required:

  • Required: IP, server, network element setup and configuration experience. Understanding the IP, software and network architecture would be required as our solutions would be integrated with customer systems and network elements.
  • Good knowledge of mobile communications standards such as PCI, High Speed Ethernet, Metro/Optical NW, 5G (physical layer, protocol knowledge would be considered a bonus),.
  • Experience with integrating, selling and supporting test systems and assurance solutions that delivered business results by process improvements and key KPI’s improvements.
  • Proficient in using Server, Windows & Linux OS.
  • General knowledge in automation skills, including SCPI command programming.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree holder in Telecommunications/Computer/Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • At least 5 years of experience as applications engineering, pre-sales technical support or consulting in industries such as PCI, High Speed Ethernet, Metro/Optical NW, mobile communications of 5G (physical layer, protocol knowledge would be considered a bonus).
  • Must be comfortable with carrying annual sales targets, covering a wide customer range and a broad portfolio of products.
