About this opportunity:
BNEW RCE Lab Operations is part of Business Area Networks. We provide lab infrastructure, networks, and hardware services that enable R&D teams to configure and run design and test environments, with delivery from Sweden and regional labs worldwide.
Hardware Management (HWM) provides hardware asset management for R&D. We use OKRs to help R&D make data-driven decisions and manage the full lifecycle of assets to maximize return on investment.
We value collaboration, transparency, business understanding, diversity, and living Ericsson Values and Principles.
As our Solution Architect, you will provide observability services to R&D and Lab Operations, lead a global team, and work closely with labs, stakeholders, and partner functions across Ericsson.
We are looking for a Solution Architect to refine and extend the architecture of our global observability and monitoring platform: COS (Central Observability System).
COS is used daily by thousands of developers and testers worldwide. You will drive key architectural decisions and help set direction for the engineering team.
You will define COS architecture principles, standards, and patterns, translate stakeholder needs into a target architecture and roadmap, and explore how AI can add value in both architecture and operations.
You don't need to be a data scientist, but you enjoy automation and using data to improve systems.
What you will do
Promote "observability by design" across development.
Own the cloud-native microservice architecture, ensuring availability, scalability, performance, and security from the start.
Enable AI in observability/telemetry (e.g., anomaly detection, failure prediction, automated RCA) to support faster data-driven decisions.
Guide implementation using unified telemetry standards (OpenTelemetry/OTel) and establish data ownership across sources.
Ensure the service follows SRE standards for stability, scalability, and high availability.
Partner with Service Operations on SLA follow-up and drive security/compliance (risk assessments, vulnerability scans).
The skills you bring
- A University Degree with a Past Experience of min. 8 Years in relevant to the role.
- A proactive problem-solver who balances technical expertise with structured delivery.
- Proven experience designing cloud-native system architectures, with hands-on knowledge of much of the COS stack (e.g., Golang, Svelte, Docker/K8s, Cortex, tracing, Postgres/Cassandra/Kafka).
- Comfortable as an internal SME: turn complex needs into clear architectural choices and communicate the "why" to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Strong security mindset; able to embed governance, risk, and compliance into architecture and delivery.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Loki) is a plus; Ericsson experience is a bonus.
- "All academic credentials must be from recognized and accredited institutions and are further subject to verification."
