Design Engineering Department

The Design Engineering North America (NA) comprises of a skilled team of Design Managers, Program Managers, and guides in Engineering and Architecture. Our collective expertise is harnessed to create customized adaptations of the forefront Vantage Data Center prototype that perfectly cater to the unique requirements of our customers! Throughout this process, close collaboration takes place with Sales, Operations, and management teams. The Design Engineering team also maintains a close partnership with the Construction team, working together to craft a seamlessly integrated design that ensures the efficient execution of new and existing standards and designs.

The Design Engineering team guides the development and operation of best-in-class data centers for hyperscale customers by providing business-minding Design and Engineering expertise.

Position Overview

This role can be based in our US location: Ashburn, VA. in alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible)

Vantage is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Solutions Architect to join our team in the data center industry. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions that meet the complex needs of our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of data center infrastructure, cloud computing, networking, and storage solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions.

Essential Job Functions

Solution Design and Architecture:

  • Design and architect customized data center solutions that meet specific client requirements, including compute, storage, networking, and cloud integration.

  • Develop high-level and detailed designs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of the solutions.

Client Engagement and Requirements Gathering:

  • Engage with clients to understand their business needs, technical requirements, and challenges.

  • Conduct detailed requirements analysis and translate business needs into technical specifications.

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and design to implementation and post-deployment support.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other customers to ensure successful delivery of solutions.

Technology Evaluation and Selection:

  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, products, and services that align with client needs and industry standard methodologies.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the data center industry to inform solution design.

Proof of Concept and Testing:

  • Develop and lead proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to validate proposed solutions.

  • Oversee testing and validation of solutions to ensure they meet performance, security, and reliability standards.

Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of solution designs, configurations, and deployment procedures.

  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to clients and internal teams on the implemented solutions.

Pre-Sales Support:

  • Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical expertise during the pre-sales process, including client presentations, proposal development, and RFP responses.

  • Assist in creating solution blueprints, cost estimates, and technical proposals.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for improving solution design processes, tools, and methodologies.

  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for solution architecture within the organization.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a solutions architect role, with a focus on data center infrastructure, cloud computing, and networking.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing complex technical solutions in the data center or technology industry.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Strong understanding of data center technologies, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to design scalable and reliable solutions.

  • Proficiency in architectural frameworks, design patterns, and solution modeling tools.

  • Strong communication and social skills, with the ability to engage with clients and internal teams effectively.

  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

  • Thorough with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage numerous projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment.

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
