About this opportunity:
We are seeking a Cloud Architect to design, define, and govern cloud-native infrastructure for SD SL core network deployments. The role covers the cloud platform that hosts 5G and 4G core network functions, including Cloud Network Functions (CNFs), and ensures they meet performance, availability, security, and operational requirements. The architect works across network, cloud, and delivery teams to move solutions from design through deployment and into operation.
What will you do:
• Design the end-to-end cloud infrastructure for core network workloads, including compute, storage, networking, and orchestration layers.• Define cloud platform architecture for CNF hosting, covering Kubernetes-based and NFV-based deployments as applicable.• Specify placement, resource allocation, and scaling strategies for core network functions such as AMF, SMF, UPF, PCF, UDM, AUSF, NRF, and NSSF.• Ensure cloud designs meet telecom-grade requirements for latency, throughput, high availability, geo-redundancy, and disaster recovery.• Define cloud security architecture, including network segmentation, identity and access management, secrets management, and compliance controls.• Collaborate with core network architects on SBI, interworking, and protocol-level requirements that affect cloud design.• Lead architecture reviews, design documentation, and solution approval with internal and customer stakeholders.• Evaluate cloud vendors, platforms, and tools, and make technology recommendations with clear trade-off analysis.• Support deployment planning, troubleshoot architecture-level issues during rollout, and provide guidance to delivery teams.• Drive automation, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD practices for core network cloud environments.• Establish and maintain architecture standards, reference designs, and best practices.
The skills you bring:
• Proven experience architecting cloud platforms for telecom or mission-critical workloads.• Strong knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, containers, and service mesh concepts.• Working knowledge of virtualization and NFV concepts, including OpenStack or equivalent platforms.• Understanding of 4G/5G core network architecture, including EPC and 5GC network functions and their interfaces.• Familiarity with telecom protocols relevant to cloud deployment, such as HTTP/2, Diameter, GTPv2, and PFCP.• Experience with infrastructure as code tools (for example, Terraform, Ansible, or Helm).• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including overlay and underlay networks, load balancing, and traffic steering.• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present architecture decisions to executive and technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience with 5G Standalone (SA) deployments in a cloud or CNF environment.• Experience with EPC-to-5GC migration or interworking, including NSA to SA transition.• Knowledge of network slicing, IMS, or VoNR architecture.• Relevant certifications in cloud platforms (for example, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Red Hat OpenShift) or Kubernetes (CKA or CKAD).• Experience working in multi-vendor environments and with customer-facing governance processes.
