The PositionThe position:
The On-Premise Infrastructure team (formerly Composable Infrastructure) is responsible for modernizing Roche’s internal IT hosting. Their mission is to deliver consistent, elastic, and automated infrastructure that provides a cloud-like user experience across the enterprise. By utilizing an Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodology, the team transforms traditional, fixed hardware into modular, self-service components. The group encompasses specialized engineering teams, including Physical Compute, Operating Systems, Data Hosting, Data Centers, Abstraction, and Information Continuity.

Key responsibilities:
Designing infrastructure technology solutions according to enterprise standards and aligned with business priorities
Architecture review of currently existing and new infrastructure technology solutions to ensure continuous improvement and technical debt management
Research, evaluation, proof of concepts, technical sport for RFPs and adoption of new infrastructure technologies
Designing non-functional requirements and implementation review to identify gaps between design and code
Developing and communicating architectural strategy and roadmaps aligned with the wider enterprise technology landscape.
Seeking opportunities to create additional value and improve business processes, including support the development of business cases and high-level project plans.
Technical leadership & partner with different technical leads and product heads to establish high-level solution intent to showcase product value for stakeholders
Acting as a Consultant to other Product Heads, TLEs, and Service Delivery Managers (SDM)
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
Experience:
7-10 years of relevant experience (software development, integration, architecture design)
Hands-on experience in the following areas/technologies:
Deep understanding of On-Premises infrastructure architectures, including virtualization platforms (specifically Nutanix AHV and VMware migrations) and bare-metal Physical Compute environments.
Extensive experience designing and implementing Composable Infrastructure (Infrastructure as a Service), abstracting traditional, siloed hardware into API-driven, reusable "Lego-block" modules, while deeply understanding financial management, showback, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization.
Experience with the end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle, including automated zero-touch delivery and provisioning, system integrations, lifecycle maintenance, capacity management, and automated decommissioning and hardware recycling.
Ability to leverage API-driven telemetry and centralized observability through a Unified Control Plane to perform infrastructure utilization analytics, performance monitoring, and data-driven rightsizing.
Experience delivering highly available, secure, and scalable solutions, embedding global governance, security templates, and GxP regulatory requirements directly into the architecture ("Compliant by Design").
Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications (Definition of Done) and manage technical dependencies across diverse technology domains (Compute, Network, OS, Storage) in collaboration with Agile teams and Release Train Engineers (RTEs).
Experience in provisioning solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, ensuring that all infrastructure components and their combinations are defined, managed, and provisioned exclusively through code.
Configuration management and automation experience, utilizing automated build/test pipelines, standard git flows, peer review processes, and CI/CD tools to orchestrate the deployment and testing of infrastructure components.
Experience in agile ways of working (e.g. SAFe)
Experience operating in regulated environments
Strong collaboration and influencing skills with a proven ability to lead and inspire
Analytical, logical problem-resolution skills
Experience in working in a multicultural and international environment
