Job Summary: Specializes in understanding a specific technology area, supports solution design, conceptual and logical modeling, analysis of business requirements, complex systems environments, technical infrastructure, and other components. Works with IT analysis and development teams as well as business to identify solutions and support strategic and implementation projects. Acts as a “trusted advisor” and provides expert consultancy to technical teams for technology solution options analysis, evaluation, solution definition, design and implementation as well as formulating technical strategies and policies to support business objectives.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for architecting solutions in a specific technology area/platform and ensuring alignment of solutions with business and IT goals & objectives
  • Engages in the development of strategic roadmaps to support business strategies and enable the business/IT partnership
  • Responsible for the development, communication, and implementation of the organization's technology architecture and the design of applications and integration components required to support
  • Collaborates with management to determine business-specific requirements.
  • Assesses business viability of new technologies. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staff regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services
  • Models key business processes, critical paths and assesses fit and impact of technology on business processes
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection and application of new and emerging tools and techniques
  • Formulates solutions supporting business strategies and supports architectural development processes and projects
  • Applies knowledge of enterprise architecture and standards. Contributes to solution design and roadmaps in developing the IT vision and strategy
  • Produces various architecture views such as application architecture diagrams, deployment diagrams, sequence diagrams, or dataflow diagrams
  • Works with vendors and third parties as needed to assess the operational architecture and potential solution designs
  • Collaborates with the architecture community as needed to review, endorse, solve, plan and socialize resiliency focused topics and to define the application architecture/design
  • Participates in defining configuration, data and integration standards where needed for new development
  • Creates and maintains architectural artifacts illustrating the technology area ecosystem
  • Maintains code best practices and standards. Ensures that the best practices are enforced, and architecture standards are met with new initiatives and deployments
  • Provides leadership and expertise on core insurance platforms and associated business value including design and implementation approaches
  • Manages the impact of technical debt while ensuring cost effective solutions across the Group companies
  • Communicates effectively with the ability to generate action across teams and SI partners with leadership support
  • Collaborates with partner resources, reviews their designs, and approves them for compliance to TMNAS standards and adherence to best practices
  • Prepares, presents, reviews and/or approves design/TRB documents
  • Collaborates with business representatives to develop solutions and act as a representative and broker for development teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other relevant Engineering discipline, MIS or a related technical discipline
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in software, data & information systems, or solution architecture
  • A minimum of 5 years of solution design and development experience in specific technology area
  • Experience working in insurance industry P&C sector preferred
  • Ability to work with business and IT management and present IT solutions.
  • Knowledge of insurance concepts, business models, processes and systems
  • Knowledge of formal methodologies for planning and executing application development, enhancement, or support
  • Proven expertise in enterprise application and integration development and creating enterprise architectures and solutions
  • Advanced design and development skills in specific technology area
  • Understanding of tools and techniques for design, development, and support of enterprise-grade solutions and applications, databases and data models, BI and data warehousing, IT security models, NoSQL technologies, or IT hardware platforms
  • Ability to write requirements and functional/non-functional specifications
  • Ability to keep pace with newer technologies and look for ways to add value incrementally
  • Knowledge in the creation of technical and business focused diagrams and blueprints
  • Strong Knowledge of SDLC methodologies required
  • Knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile development processes, projects and deliverables
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process is a plus

Salary range $108,000 to $155,000. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
