Job Description:

The Solution Architect is a senior technical role, serving as the key software architect of China Technology Centre, responsible for all software architecture for all projects and technical domains assigned to CTC.

Cloud Strategy & Architecture

• Define and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards and reference architectures for Alibaba Cloud.
• Design cloud adoption roadmaps and migration strategies from on-premises and other cloud providers.
• Develop multi-cloud architecture patterns across Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.
• Establish architecture governance processes and ensure alignment with enterprise technology strategies.

Landing Zone & Platform Engineering

• Design and implement Alibaba Cloud Landing Zones including:
  • Resource hierarchy and account management
  • Networking and VPC architecture
  • IAM and access controls
  • Logging, monitoring, and observability
  • Security baseline controls
• Establish reusable infrastructure patterns using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Solution Architecture & Advisory

• Partner with business and application teams to understand requirements and provide cloud-native solution designs.
• Lead architecture reviews and technical design workshops.
• Provide guidance to solution architects, engineers, and project teams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.

Security, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure cloud solutions comply with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Design cloud security controls including:
  • Identity and Access Management (RAM)
  • Key Management Service (KMS)
  • Cloud Firewall
  • Security Center
  • Zero Trust architecture

Cloud Operations & Reliability

• Collaborate with Cloud Operations and SRE teams to ensure platform stability and operational excellence.
• Establish backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Define monitoring, alerting, and performance management standards.

Cost Optimization & FinOps

• Establish cloud cost governance and FinOps practices.
• Optimize infrastructure utilization and cloud spend.
• Develop cloud usage reporting and cost forecasting models.

The Person: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in information technology, including at least 5 years in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or senior technical leadership roles designing and delivering complex enterprise technology solutions.
• Proven experience in cloud architecture (e.g. AliCloud), application modernization, systems integration, enterprise platforms, and large-scale technology transformation initiatives within complex organizational environments.
• Strong experience in architecture governance, technology standards, security and risk management, and the design of scalable, resilient, and secure technology solutions.
• Relevant professional certifications such as Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure or other architecture and cloud certifications are considered an asset.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise solution architecture, application architecture patterns, systems integration, and technology design for large-scale distributed platforms.
• Strong expertise in cloud architecture, cloud-native services, infrastructure design, platform engineering, and multi-cloud environments, including AWS and AliCloud and more.
• Advanced understanding of software engineering practices, application development frameworks, application programming interfaces, microservices architecture, and DevOps methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of technology security, risk management, resilience, data protection, regulatory compliance, and secure-by-design principles.
• Practical experience in architecture governance, technology roadmaps, technical standards, architecture review processes, and stakeholder engagement across complex enterprise environments.
