Job Summary
We are seeking a Software Test Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in performance testing and growing capabilities in performance engineering.
In this role, you will lead test design and execution for complex systems, drive performance optimization efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
to ensure applications are scalable, stable, and production-ready.
You will also play a key role in advancing automation and shift-left performance practices.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Test Design & Execution
- Design, develop, and execute performance tests for web, API, and microservices-based systems.
- Develop robust workload models, scenarios, and test strategies aligned with business usage patterns.
- Ensure complete coverage across load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing.
Script Development & Automation
- Build and maintain advanced scripts using JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar tools.
- Create reusable frameworks, utilities, and templates to improve team productivity.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) for continuous validation.
Analysis & Troubleshooting
- Analyse performance test results to identify bottlenecks across application, API, database, and infrastructure layers.
- Perform root-cause analysis using APM and observability tools (Datadog, AppDynamics, Coralogix or similar).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to validate fixes and drive performance improvements.
Performance Engineering & Optimization
- Contribute to capacity planning, benchmarking, and performance tuning activities.
- Provide recommendations for optimizing application code, database queries, and infrastructure.
- Support early-stage testing (shift-left) to identify performance risks during development.
Environment & Tooling Enablement
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure stable and production-like performance environments.
- Support monitoring setup, log analysis, and system health validation during test cycles.
- Drive improvements in performance testing tools, dashboards, and automation pipelines.
Collaboration & Mentoring
- Work closely with developers, QA, SRE, and product teams to ensure performance requirements are well understood.
- Mentor junior engineers and review test scripts, results, and approaches.
- Contribute to best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
Reporting & Insights
- Create clear and concise performance reports with insights, trends, and recommendations.
- Communicate risks and findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Core Skills (Must Have)
- 1-3 years of strong experience in Performance testing and engineering.
- Strong hands-on expertise with tools like JMeter, LoadRunner or Locust.
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Java, Python, or JavaScript).
- Solid understanding of API performance testing and distributed systems.
- Experience with microservices architectures and cloud-based applications.
- Good working knowledge of APM/monitoring tools (Datadog, AppDynamics, Coralogix or similar).
- Understanding of key performance concepts:
- Response time, throughput, concurrency
- Load modeling and test design
- Basic capacity and scalability considerations
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating performance workflow with AI powered systems.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Experience in shift-left performance practices or early-stage testing.
- Knowledge of performance-as-code, observability, and log analytics tools.
