Who We Are
We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and consumer-obsessed Sr Staff Engineer in Test to join our RDC Next team. The charter for this team is to build and deliver innovative solutions across the real-estate ecosystem that deepen relationships with industry players, consumers, and brokers/agents. We are in the starting phase of the first product that will change the experience of agents and consumers through the home buying journey.
We believe in leveraging the best tools to solve problems faster. You will be expected to utilize AI coding assistants and LLMs proficiently to accelerate development velocity, generate boilerplate, and troubleshoot complex debugging scenarios. Beyond simple usage, this role requires the critical judgment to verify AI-generated outputs for security, performance, and accuracy. You should be comfortable integrating AI tooling into your daily workflow to eliminate repetitive tasks, allowing you to focus on high-impact architectural and strategic engineering challenges.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic Planning: Lead cross-functional planning of quality initiatives across web, mobile, backend, and end-to-end (E2E) testing for consumer and client applications, ensuring functionality, scalability, and continuous improvement of testing practices. Provide technical guidance to multiple teams, establishing frameworks and baseline testing standards while enabling engineers to contribute to ongoing automation efforts. Define and implement comprehensive test strategies, automation frameworks, and best practices for web, iOS, Android, backend services, and E2E workflows.
- Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on technical leadership in testing web, mobile, backend, and client and consumer applications across all teams, guiding them in implementing best practices in various facets of testing. Ensure products meet quality standards and drive improvements in automation coverage and efficiency organization-wide.
- Test Automation: Design, develop, and maintain robust, reusable, and scalable test automation solutions using frameworks such as Appium and Playwright, with a focus on establishing baseline frameworks for web, mobile, backend, and E2E testing. Partner with automation engineers and cross-functional teams to define scope and requirements, then empower engineers across the organization to contribute to and expand these frameworks.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with development, product, and operations teams across business units to ensure seamless integration of quality practices, tools, and processes. Partner with developers in writing functional, integration, and E2E tests using tools and frameworks. Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and deployment.
- Training and Mentorship:. Mentor and coach SDETs and QA engineers on test automation, test strategy, and debugging techniques.
- Planning and Communication:. Manage changing and competing priorities with business partners and engineers to reprioritize delivery, track, communicate, and mitigate risks as appropriate; triage and analyze (RCA) issues to advocate for preventive and corrective measures across all teams.
- Technology Evaluation and Modernization: Evaluate and implement AI-driven testing tools and recommend and integrate emerging technologies into our quality tools and solutions, keeping the organization at the forefront of industry standards
- *Agile Processes :*Participate in Agile/Scrum product development processes, ensuring that quality is an integral part of the development lifecycle from start to finish. Enable teams with processes to support faster release cycles and business needs.
What You’ll Bring:
- 10+ years of experience in software testing and automation for web, mobile apps and backend, with at least 5+ years in Staff or Senior Staff SDET role.
- Experience architecting test strategies for complex product and deployment architectures, executing feature test plans, and establishing test frameworks that enable whole-team contributions.
- Experience managing changing and competing priorities and coordinating large portfolio level testing efforts every sprint in collaboration with release managers, engineering managers, and engineers across multiple teams.
- Experience finding the underlying cause of a failure in an integrated environment.
- Experience with Java, Python for mobile and backend test automation.
- Experience with mobile app automation frameworks e.g., Appium or React Native mobile testing.
- Experience with web automation frameworks e.g., Playwright.
- Experience with API testing using Postman, RestAssured, etc.
- Experience with performance testing tools like Firebase Performance Monitoring, Gatling, or JMeter.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, CircleCI).
- Experience working with cloud-based mobile testing platforms like Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or AWS Device Farm.
- Strong understanding of mobile network conditions, UI/UX testing, accessibility testing and end-to-end workflows for end user applications.
- Experience with agentic AI tooling pr AI/ML-driven testing solutions is a plus
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
