The Group Disability technology organization is a diverse team of technologists, all working towards the common goal of ensuring the customer is at the center of everything we do. As a Full Stack Software Engineer in the Group Disability technology organization, you will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex business problems. You will lead technical design and development of a cross functional, multi-application platform for our Group Group Disability customers and their employees. This role will be responsible for development as well as driving technical decisions and best practices within the Group Disability mainframe technology stack.
Key Responsibilities -
• Develop complex functionality on the Group Disability claims platform and integrate with other MetLife systems as part of an Agile scrum team
• Partner across MetLife development teams to craft end to end technical solutions
• Participate in fit/gap analysis of requirements, help manage user expectations and provide options, develop technical designs, conduct peer code reviews, write code
• Agile Sprint planning, including estimation, user story breakdown, user story review & feedback
• Deployment support
• Create and update necessary technical documentation
• Support diagnosis and remediation of production issues
• Diagnose, document, and correct/upgrade technical debt
• Mentor, motivate, influence, drive innovation, and coach broader technical team
• Work effectively in a matrixed organization to diagnose issues, solve problems, and deliver solutions
Education -
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
Experience - 2 years to 4 years
Technical Skill -
Required:
• 3+ years' experience in Software Development and strong technical experience with designing & building enterprise scale mainframe applications
• Hands on development experience with COBOL, XML, CICS, JCL, SQL, VSAM, Changeman, File Manager, TSO, FTP, Fault Analyzer, Xpediter, MQ
• Experience with DB2 or similar databases and SQL
• Experience with waterfall, iterative and agile methodologies, and tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with focused attention to details, as well as, demonstrated professionalism and time/task management skills; ability to establish strong relationships.

Preferred (Nice to Have):
• 4+ years' experience in Software Development and strong technical experience with designing & building enterprise scale mainframe applications
• Background working in Insurance and/or Financial Services
• Experience driving DevOps adoption
• Experience in test-first practices, including Test Drive Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)
• 1+ years of distributed systems development with some of the following: JAVA/J2EE, SQL (PL/SQL), XML, HTML, shell scripts and the following frameworks/technologies: Spring, AngularJS, Node js, AWS
• Experience with integration tools such as MuleSoft, WebSphere Message Broker, Informatica, Redis
• Experience creating strategy and process for managing Continuous Delivery Pipeline using tools like: Subversion, Git, BitBucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, UCD, Nexus, Artifactory, Gradle/Groovy
• Experience instrumenting and using monitoring tools such as Splunk and AppDynamics
