We are seeking a highly skilled Software Platform Engineer II to support and modernize critical business applications within the Egypt market. This mission-critical role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous evolution of core insurance platforms. The selected candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions, while contributing to MetLife's broader digital transformation agenda. The role requires a hands-on expert with strong .NET and SQL experience, deep technical knowledge, a strong ownership mindset, and the ability to operate effectively within a high-dependency environment where reliability, accountability, and knowledge continuity are essential.
This role may support a single application, platform, SaaS solution, or commercial off-the-shelf system, with responsibility spanning development, integration, production support, modernization, and continuous improvement. The position requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, infrastructure teams, and external vendors where applicable.
Key Relationships:
Technology Leadership across Egypt and EMEA; Business Product Owners and Stakeholders; Agile Release Train teams; Infrastructure and Platform teams; and external vendors and partners where applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of business-critical production systems.
• Take ownership of assigned systems, including incident resolution, root cause analysis, service requests, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with business, product, engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Support end-to-end delivery, including requirements clarification, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Participate in code reviews, solution design discussions, architectural decisions, and configuration reviews for software, SaaS, or CoTS platforms.
• Lead and support production deployments and critical releases, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Drive knowledge documentation and transfer to reduce dependency on single individuals and improve operational resilience.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives, system integration efforts, and optimization of legacy platforms.
• Work within Agile delivery practices by contributing to user stories, estimates, sprint planning, and sprint commitments.
• Identify innovative and practical solutions to technical challenges while balancing business continuity, risk reduction, and delivery timelines.
Operating Model and Working Conditions:
• This role supports the Egypt business and follows Sunday to Thursday working days, aligned with Egypt business hours.
• Production deployments and critical releases may be scheduled during weekends, including Friday and Saturday, based on business and project requirements.
• Flexibility is required, as working hours may vary depending on project needs, releases, incidents, and production support activities.
Education:

• Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
• 4-6 years of hands-on software engineering and production experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in .NET and SQL technologies.
• Proven experience in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis for critical systems.
• Solid understanding of application design, architecture, system integration, and data flows.
• Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to sprint-based delivery.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration tools is preferred.
• Prior experience in the insurance or financial services domain is highly preferred.
Technical Stack:
• Main Skills : .NET, SQL, application development, production support, and system integration.
• Core Competencies : Hands-on engineering, troubleshooting, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Application design, architecture, data flows, and integration with external systems and platforms.
• System performance tuning, optimization, reliability improvement, and legacy platform modernization.
• Experience with SDLC development best practices and AI-first engineering approaches, including GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Copilot, and specification-driven development where applicable.
• Agile delivery practices, including user stories, estimation, sprint planning, and sprint execution.
• DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and collaboration tools.
• Understanding of cloud and hybrid architectures is an advantage.
• Product, business, and industry experience, preferably within insurance or financial services.
