Software Engineering Technical Leader - 10+yrs - Full Stack - Java/Springboot/React/Angular/Vue.js, CI/CD
At Cisco, our intuitive platform enables organizations of all sizes to deliver customer and employee experiences at scale. To provide best-in-class technologies to our customers, we've created an unrivaled company culture for our employees. One that is collaborative, flexible, and inclusive and provides employees with the autonomy to develop technology that's intuitive, secure, and accessible for everyone.
Our newly formed team is part of Engineering Systems within Cisco Collaboration, and we are hiring engineers to help shape its future. Our mission is to improve the developer experience by building a modern CI/CD and release automation platform for a large-scale enterprise environment. Engineering teams across the organization will use this platform to build, test, publish, and deploy software through a unified, Git-driven workflow—with configuration managed in Git, secrets secured in Vault, and automated deployments to Kubernetes or VM-based environments. This team will play a key role in simplifying delivery workflows, increasing engineering productivity, and enabling reliable, secure, and consistent software releases at scale.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer on the CI/CD Platform team, you will use AI-assisted development tools as a core part of how you deliver software—from requirements through production. You will collaborate with product, backend, DevOps, and QA engineers to architect, design, and build a full-stack application for pipeline orchestration, release control, deployment visibility, audit logging, and enterprise integrations. With quality as a high priority, you will own features end to end, including unit and end-to-end tests, while reviewing and validating all AI-assisted output before shipping.
What you will work on- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Codex, or equivalent) effectively across the full Agile SDLC—from clarifying requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Build a full-stack application for a new CI/CD platform: pipeline state, release workflows, deployment visibility, and operational control surfaces.
- Contribute to AI-native platform capabilities, including MCP servers and AI agents that detect deployment failures, recommend or automate rollbacks, and guide operators through troubleshooting.
- Solve complicated architecture problems to build scalable and extendable systems.
- Develop backend services in Java (Spring Boot) and frontend experiences using React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Design relational data models and APIs for pipeline state, releases, changes, and audit metadata (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
- Write unit tests and end-to-end tests for critical CI/CD flows—from trigger through build, publish, deploy, and verify.
- Deploy and operate platform services in production using CI/CD, GitOps, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
- Optimize platform performance and reliability—profiling services, tuning databases and APIs, and improving scalability under production load.
- Take complete ownership from conception to production release by influencing, facilitating, and working collaboratively across teams.
- 10+ years of proven experience writing professional production code and deployement for large-scale systems.
- 8+ years of experience in full-stack technologies (Java/Spring Boot backend plus React, Angular, or Vue.js).
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively across the full Agile SDLC—from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Can implement efficient database design, query performance, and schema migrations in a relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
- Have experience with CI/CD tooling for build, test, artifact publishing, and deployment (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent).
- Have working knowledge of deployment and release tooling such as Argo CD (GitOps), Ansible (VM-based deployment), and Harness (or equivalent platforms).
- Have experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Write unit tests and end-to-end tests as a standard part of delivery—not an afterthought.
- Demonstrate a sense of ownership throughout the entire development process, from conception to production release, by effectively influencing and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strategic and product-oriented approach with a desire to understand users and platform consumers.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Experience with AI-native DevOps, MCP servers, or AI agent development.
- Experience building or contributing to CI/CD platforms, release automation, or internal developer platforms.
- Experience with GitHub Actions and Argo CD together in a production GitOps environment.
- Experience with HashiCorp Vault or equivalent secrets management.
- Experience with Helm or Kustomize for Kubernetes deployments.
- Experience with VM-based deployment patterns (e.g., Ansible, SSH-based automation).
- Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Redis).
- Experience integrating with ITSM or change-management systems (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or equivalent).
- Experience in regulated or compliance-sensitive release environments.
