Job Description:About the Role
At Broadcom, our Mainframe Software Division is at the forefront of bridging mission-critical enterprise systems with modern development paradigms. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers focused on building cutting-edge DevOps, CI/CD, Testing and Source Control Management (SCM) integration solutions.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in modernizing enterprise software development.
What You Will Do
- Lead and Mentor: Build, manage, and empower a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Drive Product Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure enterprise software solutions.
- Champion Modernization: Guide your team in developing tools that integrate traditional mainframe environments with modern DevOps pipelines, Git repositories, and CI/CD toolchains.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, QA, and UX teams to define product roadmaps, prioritize backlogs, and translate customer needs into technical deliverables.
- Promote Agile Excellence: Drive Agile/Scrum methodologies within your team, removing blockers and optimizing workflows for maximum efficiency and predictability.
- Ensure Technical Quality: Uphold rigorous code quality and security standards, promoting best practices in automated testing, code reviews, and architecture design.
What You Will Bring
- Leadership Experience: 12+ years of overall professional experience, 3+ years of experience directly managing software development teams.
- Technical Foundation: A strong background in software engineering (e.g., Java, TypeScript, C, or modern web frameworks) with a solid understanding of software design principles.
- DevOps & CI/CD Expertise: Deep familiarity with modern development workflows, including Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD and version control tools.
- Enterprise Mindset: Experience building scalable, enterprise-grade software. Understanding the complexities of highly regulated or mission-critical environments is a strong plus.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between highly technical engineering teams and business stakeholders.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Stand-Out Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Deep experience with Source Control Management (SCM) systems.
- Knowledge of mainframe technologies (z/OS) or experience building tools for mainframe developers.
