We develop our audio solutions in close cooperation with our acoustics and DSP teams, hardware vendors, ODM’s and NPI teams, ensuring they are portable, scalable and can support a wide range of product categories and configurations.

We aren’t kidding that Roku is a place where no one is a bystander. If you want to work on a team where you will be surrounded by the best talent in audio processing, building products used by millions of people, if you want a tech culture that just works, you should reach out.

About The Role

We are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead our multi-site Audio Software development team from Aarhus, Denmark. In this role, you will own the end‑to‑end software development and execution for audio pipeline and wireless audio distribution, across multiple Roku device lines, partnering closely with SoC vendors, QA and globally distributed engineering and product teams.
This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable strategizing at the system level and diving deep into technical details when needed.

What You Will Be doing
  • Drive execution and contribute to the audio software roadmap for Roku devices, ensuring robust, high‑performance audio processing across diverse product lines and markets.
  • Drive end‑to‑end development for audio features across multiple programs and products in parallel: from early concept and architecture through implementation, validation, optimization, and rollout.
  • Act as a dedicated people leader: engage actively in their personal and professional development, provide coaching/feedback and foster a supportive team culture
  • Lead the team through a transformation to enable broad use of Agentic development across a large code-base and proprietary tools
  • Stay at the forefront of AI tool advancements and their applicability in software and product development
  • Work directly with SoC vendors and Porting teams to define requirements, review designs for interoperability, ensure high‑quality PAL and firmware deliveries, and resolve complex field issues.
  • Foster architectural decisions within the team, proactively identifying and addressing technical debt accumulation to maintain long-term code health and development velocity
  • Define and enforce engineering best practices for audio software: code quality, code review, design reviews, KPI monitoring, performance benchmarks, and regression prevention.
  • Partner with globally distributed leaders in hardware, firmware, software, and product/program management to align on priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Engage with offshore scaling partners for product sustaining
  • Represent the audio software team in cross‑functional forums, communicating risks, trade‑offs, and data‑driven recommendations.

We're Excited If You Have
  • Experience leading engineering teams; distributed international team experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record of building and managing high‑performing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Hands‑on experience in embedded software development for consumer devices.
  • Experience working with real-time audio / video processing
  • Experience working with SoC vendors on feature definition, driver/firmware delivery, and joint debug of complex issues.
  • Genuine curiosity about agentic development paradigms and AI in general, with a drive to continuously explore how emerging AI capabilities can transform engineering workflows
  • Strong background in embedded Linux or RTOS‑based systems, including C/C++ development for resource‑constrained or real‑time environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and wireless communication, including Bluetooth/BLE.
  • Deep understanding of SoC architectures used in consumer electronics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively with global stakeholders at all levels.

The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
