Wells Fargo is seeking a Specialty Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead teams responsible for designing, building, modernizing, and operating foundational data and platform capabilities that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and downstream data consumption. This role provides hands-on technical leadership and people management while partnering closely with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions aligned to enterprise technology strategy.
In addition to core platform responsibilities, this role leads targeted initiatives focused on delivery metrics optimization and continuous delivery enablement across priority technology domains.
In this role, you will:
- Manage, coach, and develop teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers delivering capabilities with moderate complexity and risk using modern engineering practices and technologies
- Provide technical and delivery leadership for shared data and platform services, including capabilities supporting data ingestion, transformation, processing, storage, metadata management, and access enablement for analytics and downstream consumption
- Lead teams responsible for building, modernizing, and operating foundational platform capabilities that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and application use cases
- Ensure solutions adhere to Banking Platform Architecture standards and meet defined non-functional requirements, including security, scalability, resiliency, and performance, with each release
- Partner with architects and senior engineers to align platform solutions with Wells Fargo technology strategies, including application modernization, cloud readiness, and enterprise data strategy
- Act as the technical representative for owned platforms and services during cross-team planning, design reviews, and delivery coordination
- Identify, prioritize, and drive resolution of technical roadblocks across code, build, test, deployment, and operational processes impacting shared platform and delivery capabilities
- Serve as an escalation partner for scrum masters and delivery teams, helping remove impediments while supporting delivery of moderate- to high-risk commitments
- Provide hands-on technical leadership as needed, including design guidance, code reviews, and solution alignment to architectural direction
- Interpret and apply security, stability, scalability, and resiliency requirements, while identifying, managing, and mitigating technology and enterprise risks across platform services
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Owners to influence technology requirements, roadmap priorities, and solution design, while advocating agile and DevOps practices
- Lead a dedicated engineering team focused on building, piloting, and operationalizing MVPs and POCs to improve continuous delivery capabilities, including P2P and delivery metrics optimization
- Guide engineering execution for priority initiatives aligned to enterprise programs, ensuring measurable delivery outcomes, scalability, and organizational impact
- Partner with internal platform teams, analytics stakeholders, strategic vendors, and external technology providers to advance delivery metrics, tooling, and automation capabilities
- Drive scale-out of proven delivery and metrics solutions across multiple technology domains, reducing duplicated discovery and accelerating adoption of standardized approaches
- Establish and centralize best practices, patterns, and reusable assets to improve delivery efficiency, consistency, and knowledge sharing across teams
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure delivery commitments are met and aligned with technology and business objectives
- Hire, develop, and retain engineering talent; build a strong culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and accountability; and conduct performance management for engineers and managers
- 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience
- Experience leading shared platform or foundational data capabilities that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and downstream application use cases
- Strong understanding of modern software and data platform architectures, including cloud-native design, scalability, resiliency, and security considerations
- Experience driving continuous delivery improvements, including use of delivery metrics, automation, and engineering best practices to improve throughput and quality
- Demonstrated ability to lead MVPs and POCs from concept through operationalization and scale-out
- Experience partnering with product, architecture, and engineering leaders to translate strategy into executable technical roadmaps
- Experience influencing and aligning multiple teams across domains to reduce duplication and promote reuse of common patterns and solutions
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern engineering toolchains
- Experience working with third-party technology vendors and strategic partners
- Proven ability to lead and develop senior engineers and managers in a complex, matrixed, and regulated enterprise environment
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid or matrixed team environment
- Willingness to participate in on-call or escalation support as required by supported platforms or products
- Adherence to Wells Fargo policies, risk management, and compliance standards
