Summary Generated by Built In

Maven AGI sits at the center of the hottest intersection in tech right now: AI and customer experience. While most "AI support" tools still focus on FAQs and deflection, Maven's agents actually do the work, autonomously interacting with customers, personalizing the conversation, and resolving complex issues, not just providing information.

Founded in 2023 by executives from HubSpot, Google, and Stripe, Maven builds conversational AI agents that don't just answer customers, they act: going into a customer's account, finding the actual problem, and fixing it, with no human required. Customers like Dell, ServPro, HardRock, Tripadvisor, Clio, and Thumbtack rely on Maven, with independently verified results — customers report resolving 70–93% of interactions autonomously — and G2 has named Maven a High Performer and Best Meets Requirements across multiple categories.

The Position

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager/Technical Lead to help build Maven AGI’s Voice Agent platform.

Maven Voice enables enterprise customers to automate real customer conversations through AI agents that can understand intent in real time, respond naturally, handle interruptions, execute workflows, and seamlessly hand conversations off to human agents when needed.

This is a technical leadership role that combines people mentorship, product execution, and strong engineering judgment. You will support managing our team of engineers working across real-time voice infrastructure, conversational AI, agent orchestration, integrations, and customer-facing product experiences.

You will partner closely with Product, AI/ML, Design, Customer Success, and other engineering teams to turn complex customer needs into reliable, scalable product capabilities. You’ll also work directly with enterprise customers and internal stakeholders to understand voice workflows, contact-center environments, and technical constraints, then help the team deliver solutions that work in production at scale.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manage and co-develop with a team of software engineers building Maven’s Voice Agent platform

  • Partner with Product and Design to define scope, sequencing, and technical approaches for new Voice capabilities

  • Partner closely with other technical leads to align architecture, engineering priorities, and execution

  • Help onboard engineers as the Voice team grows

  • Balance customer commitments, product velocity, platform reliability, and longer-term technical investments

  • Communicate technical risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and progress across the organization

  • Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, AI/ML, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market teams

  • Improve engineering processes while keeping the team fast, pragmatic, and focused on shipping high-quality products

  • Build a culture of technical ownership, experimentation, and continuous improvement

Technical and Product Responsibilities:
  • Guide the design, development, and operation of real-time voice and conversational AI systems

  • Lead engineering efforts across voice agents, conversation orchestration, telephony integrations, and customer workflows

  • Help the team build responsive, natural conversational experiences that handle interruptions, changing context, accents, languages, and unpredictable user behavior

  • Partner with AI/ML teams to integrate speech recognition, text-to-speech, LLMs, and other AI models into production voice experiences

  • Drive improvements in latency, reliability, call quality, scalability, and overall user experience

  • Guide integrations with telephony and contact-center infrastructure, including SIP, PSTN, WebRTC, Twilio, Genesys, Cisco, RingCentral, Zendesk Talk, and similar platforms

  • Build systems that allow AI agents to execute real-world workflows such as account updates, transactions, scheduling, refunds, and other customer actions

  • Ensure voice conversations can transition smoothly to human agents with the appropriate context, transcripts, summaries, and interaction history

  • Establish strong observability and debugging practices for distributed, real-time systems

  • Partner with customer-facing teams to investigate production issues and turn customer feedback into durable product improvements

  • Help define technical architecture and engineering standards as the Voice platform scales across customers and use cases

  • Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve voice quality, developer velocity, reliability, and product performance

Who You Are:
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams

  • Strong technical background building and operating production software systems

  • Experience leading teams working on distributed, real-time, or high-concurrency applications

  • Strong understanding of APIs, backend systems, service-oriented architectures, and cloud infrastructure

  • Experience working with asynchronous systems, streaming data, event-driven architectures, or similar real-time workloads

  • Strong product judgment and experience partnering closely with Product and Design

  • Comfortable working across both technical architecture and day-to-day execution

  • Experience operating customer-facing systems where reliability and responsiveness are critical

  • Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Comfortable working directly with customers to understand technical requirements and production issues

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment

How You Show Up
  • We are customer champions. You put users at the center of your thinking, advocate for their needs, and design solutions that make their lives measurably better.

  • We are bold in action. You move with urgency and courage, unafraid to challenge convention and take smart risks in pursuit of meaningful outcomes.

  • We are data-driven and insight guided. You make thoughtful decisions grounded in evidence, combining data with intuition to guide strategy and execution.

  • We are stronger together. You bring others along, value diverse perspectives, and contribute to a culture of trust and shared ownership.

What We Offer
  • 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums covered for you, 80% for family

  • HSA and FSA plans available

  • Unlimited vacation and 100% paid parental leave

  • Free lunches, onsite gym, and commuter benefits for in-office employees

  • $1,000 home office stipend and $5,000/year for continuing education

  • Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and meaningful equity

  • ~130 people, built from zero in under three years — small enough that your work is visible, big enough to already be running at Dell- and Tripadvisor-scale

Maven AGI is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and is committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels included. Join us in changing the face of enterprise customer support!
