Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager 2 – DevOps Lead role. This position will be located on site in San Diego, CA.
The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10 individuals to continuously develop and maintain software production tools and processes across multiple teams developing in an Agile software development environment.
The successful candidate will also serve as a work package manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of DevOps products to meet contractual cost, schedule, and technical requirements. This role will report to the IPT Lead for Progress using Agile Metrics and EVMS methodologies. The role is also responsible for risk management and providing technical guidance to the team.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Test Automation, and Systems Test organizations, to ensure the team is meeting the mission engineering objectives of the contract. The successful candidate will implement and utilize several Agile development techniques and metrics to manage the team’s progress and the work quality throughout the product life cycle. This position is a dual-hatted Technical SW DevOps and Manager position that reports to the IPT Lead on the program side and the Application Software Department Manager on the functional side.
Essential Functions:
- Work in a high energy environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels
- Develop DevOps architectures and development frameworks in support of teams developing software for use in flight and mission critical systems
- Manage and report budget, schedule status, and team allocation for DevOps
- Work closely with program systems engineering, software development, and management professionals to ensure that the software lifecycle is accomplished with high quality and efficiency
- Provide Functional Management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, disciplinary actions, and direct engagement
- The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 10% may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Prior leadership experience using Agile development, including participating as Product Owner, Scrum Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment
- Experience with a variety of DevOps tools such as Ansible, Ant, Bamboo, Chef, GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
- Experience with software development (Java/Javascript, C++, C# or any modern object-oriented language) and its life cycle
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment to be able to completely support statement of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Experience developing proposal inputs, cost account management, and resource planning
- Experience with cost account management and task/resource planning
- Experience using Atlassian Tool Suite, JIRA, SonarQube
- Experience with VMware infrastructure and automation
