Roles and Responsibilities
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will:
- Collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and grow your technical expertise.
- Write clean, maintainable code (primarily in Java) that meets project requirements and coding standards.
- Develop and maintain automation tests for acceptance, functional, and regression testing.
- Contribute to manual test creation, execution, and documentation.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving software bugs.
- Gain familiarity with GE HealthCare’s internal tools and development processes.
- Help maintain high-quality project documentation.
- Follow guidance and mentorship from senior team members.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Ongoing university studies in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
- Availability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week (up to 40 hours).
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (Java is required).
- Basic experience with Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong attention to detail, especially regarding code quality, testability, maintainability, and documentation.
- Residency in Hungary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- Interest in healthcare technologies and advanced visualization.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setup from GE HealthCare’s Váci Greens office (1–2 days/week onsite).
Differentiators:
Knowledge in any of the following areas is a plus:
- GoLang
- Scripting languages (preferably Bash or Python)
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Amazon AWS
