Our internships span a variety of business areas and are open to rising seniors in undergraduate programs. Designed to support both personal and professional growth, the 10-week summer program runs from early June through mid-August in one of our four corporate offices in the Chicagoland area.

Job Description

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced software engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, and support applications that drive Medline's Warehouse Management Systems and E-Commerce platforms. This role provides exposure to both front-end and back-end development, allowing interns to contribute across the software development lifecycle while collaborating in an agile, team-oriented environment. 

Examples of Projects and Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement new features for business and e-commerce applications. 
  • Design, code, test, deploy, and support software solutions. 
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve software defects and production issues. 
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards and best practices. 
  • Develop and execute unit tests and support automated testing efforts. 
  • Collaborate with team members to improve existing applications and software development processes. 
  • Write technical documentation to support software maintenance and usability. 
  • Analyze business requirements and contribute to solution design discussions. 
  • Work closely with fellow interns and Medline team members in a collaborative, professional environment. 

Qualifications 

  • Rising senior or junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field. 
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. 
  • Experience with Java and/or JavaScript through coursework, projects, or internships. 
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design concepts. 
  • Exposure to modern front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Next.js. 
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL. 
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems. 
  • Knowledge of frameworks and tools such as Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Selenium, Jasmine, or Karma is a plus. 
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and adapt quickly to new technologies. 
  • Unrestricted permanent U.S. work authorization.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$23.25 - $33.75 Hourly

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
