Software Engineering Intern — Calix Cloud

This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Products team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The expected duration of the program is 90 days.
In this role, you will work a collaborative team environment to enhance and expand the capabilities of the in-house test automation framework. The results of your work will be used across the cloud organization for improved productivity and test coverage.

Responsibilities and Duties:         

• Design and implement innovative solutions: design, code, and debug complex software systems, continuously enhancing their performance and functionality.
• Partner with cloud SMEs to write, conduct unit testing and integration testing for functionality.
• Create required accompanying technical documentation.
• Add features to the existing frameworks.
• Participate in technical discussions within engineering group in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): review requirements, produce design documents, participate in peer reviews, produce test plans, support QA team.  
• Support test strategy and automation in both end-to-end solution and functional testing.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university and returning to school in the Fall.
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with preference to Juniors or Seniors who have previous work experience.
• Familiar with Java and GO.
• Familiar with databases such as MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiar with Linux and Windows OS.
• Understanding Unit Testing principals.
• Must understand basic computer programming concepts, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
• Familiar with source control applications such as GIT.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong communication skills and excellent telephone presence.
• Organized and goal-focused, with the ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).

• Remote-based position located in the United States.

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

27.60 - 34.50 USD Hourly

All Other Locations:

24.00 - 30.00 USD Hourly
