Cat Digital is the digital and technology focused organization within Caterpillar, Inc. Our global team is responsible for bringing digital capabilities to Caterpillar's world-famous yellow iron. Working with your yellow partners and Cat Dealers, we execute key components of digital and marketing portfolios, including global marketing & brand, enterprise data, analytics and AI, equipment management, eCommerce, digital marketing, rental & used digital solutions, and aftermarket leads & insights.
What You Will Do
As a Software Engineer on the Platform Services team, you will be responsible for developing backend APIs that can be used by multiple digital applications. The team currently develops variety of core/common & reusable services such as user onboarding, organization hierarchy, asset dynamic attributes, etc. into Caterpillar's digital eco system.
What You Will Have - Skills and Experiences
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
- Effective Communications: understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
- Software Development: knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements
- Software Development Life Cycle: knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace
- Software Integration Engineering: knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages
- Software Product Design/Architecture: knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into software product design
- Software Product Technical Knowledge: knowledge of technical aspects of a software product; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products
- Software Product Testing: knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements
Top Candidates May Have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related degree (selected candidates must complete their degree by their start date)
- 0-2 years of relevant experience related to this field (internships or academic projects are a plus)
- Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 3.0/ 4.0 (no rounding)
- Experience in developing, maintaining and supporting back-end services using JAVA 25 or higher and SpringBoot RESTFul API Development
- Experience deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS or Azure.

- Ideal for those building foundational skills in software engineering, generally within the first 24 months of their career
- Locations for this position are Peoria or Chicago Illinois
- Basic relocation may be available, depending on relocation qualifications

Summary Pay Range:
$79,800.00 - $119,760.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
