Software Engineer

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Movicon team in Modena. In this role, you will support customers and system integrators in the effective use of Movicon.NExT, our SCADA/HMI software platform. You will analyze customer needs, troubleshoot technical issues, guide them toward best‑practice implementations, and collaborate with global experts, including our R&D team in Modena to ensure fast, high‑quality resolutions.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across Europe, the United States, and other Emerson locations around the world.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Become a power user of the Movicon.NExT platform, acquiring strong product expertise.
• Manage customer tickets received via email or phone, providing accurate, timely, and customer‑focused support.
• Analyze customer requirements, understand their application goals, and recommend the best approach to achieve the desired results using Movicon.NExT.
• Support system integrators in troubleshooting configuration, connectivity, or project development issues.
• Maintain precise and complete documentation of support cases, solutions, and improvement ideas.
• Contribute to the knowledge base, creating articles, guides, and best practices to help scale support.
• Collaborate with the Movicon R&D team and international experts to accelerate complex case resolution.
• Understand how to configure connectivity with Emerson and non‑Emerson PLCs, controllers, and industrial devices.
• Deliver training sessions and provide product expertise to customers when required.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Automation, Equivalent work experience is also considered. 
•Strong willingness to learn new software systems and build technical expertise.
• Experience with industrial automation, SCADA/HMI systems, PLCs
• Basic programming skills in Visual Studio (preferably VBA or VB.NET; JavaScript, C#, Python are a plus).
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of relational databases and basic SQL concepts.
• Good communication skills in Italian (must) and English (working proficiency).
• A proactive, customer‑focused attitude and strong collaboration mindset.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience with Movicon or other SCADA/HMI platforms.
• Prior experience as an Application Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or Control Engineer.
• Experience presenting or demonstrating industrial software to customers.
• Knowledge of industrial networks, communication protocols, and diverse PLC platforms.
• Ability to travel occasionally for troubleshooting, training, or customer support.
