Software Engineer

About this role:

Dual North America is one of the leading insurance underwriters in the United States. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to create and maintain in-house software and systems. Additionally, the successful candidate will develop client facing products that will maintain Dual’s edge on the competition. Essential Functions:

The Software Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement new software programs

  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software

  • Work with developers to design algorithms and flowcharts

  • Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications

  • Integrate software components and third-party programs

  • Verify and deploy programs and systems

  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software

  • Gather and evaluate user feedback

  • Recommend and execute improvements

  • Create technical documentation for reference and reporting

  • This position will be primarily assigned to the Flood program and will develop, maintain, and deploy customer facing websites

  • Create reports for internal and external consumption

  • Create and maintain SQL scripts in support of the business objectiv

Qualification and Skills:

  • BSc/BA/AS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or similar role

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

  • Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment

  • Knowledge of coding languages (e.g. C#)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Angular

  • Experience with SQL

  • Familiarity with source control systems (Git preferred)

  • Ability to learn new languages and technologies

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business

  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary

  • Strong attention to detail
