Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and operates highly available distributed systems and platform services at global scale.
- Develops mission-critical services supporting Microsoft Entra, including traffic management, Kubernetes (K8s) runtime platforms, and livesite management.
- Builds and maintains scalable services that process millions of requests per second and support hundreds of billions of authentications per day.
- Designs and implements technical solutions to improve the reliability, availability, performance, and scalability of platform services.
- Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software while supporting availability targets greater than 99.99%.
- Owns software features and services through the full development lifecycle, from design and implementation through deployment and production support.
- Collaborates with engineers and cross-functional partners to solve complex technical problems and deliver critical software safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Strong track record as a hands-on engineer designing and delivering elegant solutions to meet complex design and architectural challenges in a cloud services environment.
- Deep practical experience operating high-scale services in production environments.
- Strong communications skills, comfortable presenting to large audiences and customers.
- Prior experience with performance analysis and optimization of web services and software.
- Prior experience building services which run on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Prior experience working in the Identity and/or Security domains.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
