​​​​We are hiring a Software Development Engineer to join the Azure PostgreSQL team, where you will work on and drive innovations in one or more areas of a relational database engine such as query processing, transaction logging and recovery, versioning, IO subsystems, scale-out and Distributed systems. You will have the opportunity to contribute to open-source PostgreSQL and Linux, and\or develop extensions.

Responsibilities
  • Learns to use appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) tools and practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a disciplined manner.
  • With guidance, creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
  • Learns to review code and helps to review code of others to ensure it meets team standards.
  • With managerial oversight, begins to test design options as assigned for a product/solution feature.
  • Produce code to test hypotheses for technical solutions and assist with technical validation efforts.
  • Learns about and helps to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility.
  • Contributes to efforts to check for visible evidence (e.g., audit trail) to demonstrate compliance for product features. 
  • Learns about acting as a designated responsible individual (DRI) for monitoring a system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems. Escalates issues to appropriate owners.
  • Embody our culture and values.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ​Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience coding in one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background check and other Microsoft/customer security screening requirements.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field OR Bachelor's plus 2+ years technical engineering experience (preferred).
