Digital Solution Engineering ManagerABB’s Process Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world’s largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, helping them outrun – leaner and cleaner.

Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, we are looking for a Quality Engineer – Functional Testing & Test Automation to join our Industrial Automation Digital organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and release readiness of Analytics & Visualization products by driving functional testing, UI/API automation, and end-to-end validation across cloud-native industrial software platforms.
Working closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Architects, and Release Managers, you will validate business-critical user journeys, analytics workflows, dashboards, APIs, and platform integrations while contributing to automation-first quality engineering practices.

You will be mainly accountable for- Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test scenarios for Analytics & Visualization products, validating dashboards, widgets, charts, user workflows, backend services, APIs, and platform integrations.
- Develop and enhance scalable UI and API automation frameworks using modern automation tools while integrating automated test suites into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines to improve release quality, automation coverage, and execution reliability.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, Architects, and Release Managers to review requirements, prepare test strategies, perform defect analysis, validate fixes, maintain test traceability, and ensure release readiness through comprehensive quality governance.
- Drive continuous quality improvement by reducing automation instability, improving reusable automation assets, validating data consistency across UI, APIs, and backend systems, and leveraging modern engineering practices to accelerate product delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline with 4–6 years of experience in software quality engineering, functional testing, and test automation.
- Strong experience in functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end testing with hands-on expertise in Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent UI automation frameworks and PyTest, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or similar API automation tools.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java, with experience developing automation frameworks, reusable test components, test data management, reporting, and CI/CD integration using Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, SQL-based data validation, cloud applications, browser debugging tools, logs, network tracing, and backend troubleshooting.
- Experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans, Boards, Pipelines, defect management, release validation, automation traceability, and quality reporting.
- Exposure to Industrial IoT, Analytics & Visualization platforms, dashboards, KPI validation, time-series data, Azure Data Explorer (ADX), performance validation, and industrial automation domains will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills with an automation-first mindset and the ability to work effectively in Agile product engineering teams.
