Job Description

The North America Payment Methods team is at the heart of Wise’s mission, building and maintaining the most popular payment method used by US Wise customers – ACH. Our engineers are tasked with creating innovative solutions that make it easier for customers to use their accounts, while ensuring scalable and robust connections between banks and Wise.


This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Travel to the US to work closely with our team members there.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build out and maintain the most popular payment method used by US Wise customers (ACH).
  • Innovate and create solutions to help customers use their accounts more easily.
  • Build out and maintain the connections between banks and Wise, ensuring scalability and robustness across multiple integrations.
  • Collaborate with our data science team to improve various ML models aimed at reducing chargebacks and fraud, ranging from simple static rules to sophisticated machine learning models.

Qualifications

A bit about you:

  • You’re passionate about helping others and keen to roll up your sleeves and take ownership to drive company-wide impact
  • A strong product mindset, you prioritize work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions
  • Sense of ownership and great communication skills to drive projects across teams
  • You have solid Java or Kotlin knowledge, experience with Spring framework and micro-service best practices
  • You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback
  • You mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring high-quality code standards across the team
  • You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development
  • Experience working with relational databases, query optimization and designing schemas
  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex and technical concepts across multiple teams
  • You’re willing to travel and interested in working with and learning from our Engineers across our global offices
  • You’re excited to work in a disruptive, fast-growing and fun environment

Hybrid Workspace

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.

We expect new joiners in the office most days to build connections and learn from colleagues for their first six months. After that, most Wisers split their working week between the office and home, typically coming in at least 12 times a month.
