Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Software Engineer with a strong product and engineering mindset to join our Treasury FX Risk team.
Our team calculates FX risk from trading foreign exchange to meet Wise's liquidity needs. We manage mission critical services that provide accurate real-time risk calculations and aggregate market data from platforms like Bloomberg and Reuters. Collaborating with Data Science, we also ensure risks are hedged accurately and dynamically. Our systems offer a real-time view of Wise’s global financial positions, translating transactions into actual and forecasted money movements. Trading teams rely on our data to manage FX exposure and execute trades worth tens to hundreds of millions of pounds, making reliability and scalability our top priorities.
How we work
We operate on a strong belief in automation, programmatic implementation, and reusable design. We’re looking for people who can step back and think holistically about the ecosystem, but also follow through and help implement the design; drawing on the resources across the rest of the treasury tribe.
As we grow, sustaining our trajectory requires ongoing refinement and iteration of our services with a focus on availability, security, and user experience. We need a seasoned engineer who can dissect complex requirements and create elegant, impactful solutions, empowering our teams to advance our mission with agility and confidence.
What will you be working on?
You will be working on initiatives to ensure that our services continue to provide accurate and timely data as the company scales.
Improving the scalability and reliability of our exchange rates infrastructure
Designing and implementing real time data streaming flows to enable real time monitoring of metrics related to financial risks
Tackle challenges related to processing large data volumes, addressing performance bottlenecks, and implementing fault-tolerant solutions.
Gain in-depth expertise in the finance and treasury domains, contributing to the management of Wise's financial infrastructure.
Collaborate deeply with Operations, Analytics, Trading, and Product teams to align technical and business objectives.
What do you need?
We acknowledge that engineers continuously evolve their skillsets, and we are committed to supporting your growth. However, we are looking for candidates who can bring these core skills to the table:
Extensive experience and proven track record in software engineering, ideally with a focus on financial systems or markets (not hard requirement)
Exceptional product mindset, able to balance customer-centric and data-driven approaches
Expertise in messaging systems such as Kafka
Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is highly valued
Experience with both relational and non-relational database design
Commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
Advocating for best practices in code quality, continuous delivery, and robust code reviews
The successful candidate will onboard rapidly, bringing insights to help refine the team vision while contributing to the potent impact our products have on customers' lives.

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.
