About this role:
A Software Engineer in Test (SET), is a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), is a hybrid role that combines the responsibilities of a software developer with the expertise of a quality assurance (QA) tester. They are integral to ensuring the quality and reliability of software products by designing and developing automated testing solutions
As a part of R&D Department at Altium, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving existing testing infrastructure along with creating new test frameworks from scratch and You'll be participating in building test platforms to support software engineering. You will be involved in a wide range of automation activities to support the fast development of new features of Altium cloud products. As a Software Engineer, you will work together with an ambitious team of professionals.
A day in the life of our Software Engineer in Test:
- Design and development of test automation: Create, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand features, technical implementations, and testing requirements.
- Testing execution and analysis: Execute both automated and manual tests (functional, non-functional, regression, performance, security), analyze results, and provide detailed reports.
- Integration with development lifecycle: Integrate testing processes into the CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipelines and Agile methodologies.
- Process improvement: Participate in code reviews, recommend corrective actions, and continuously improve testing practices, tools, and processes
- Knowledge and experience with at least one of OOP languages: C# (preferable), Java, Python; the willingness of programming in C# as main technology required;
- Experience with test tools, standards and frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, SpecFlow/Reqnroll, NUnit, Fiddler, HTTP Debugger etc.
- Understanding of Cloud computing solutions (AWS, Alibaba), containerization and virtualization
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab) and Git;
- Experience with Grafana and test automation reporting tools (eg. Allure);
- At least base understanding REST-based and GraphQL API technologies
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and QA to understand requirements and ensure testability.
- CI/SD Integration: Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline (e.g. Jenkins)
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience with performance testing process, performance testing tools (eg. Nbomber, Jmeter, Locus, K6 etc.), tools and techniques for performance measurement, profiling, and optimization;
- DB basic knowledge (MySQL, Firebird);
- Playwright experience - big plus
- +4 years of experience in test automation or software development
- English communication skills (written & verbal) required
Skills Required
- 4+ years of experience in test automation or software development
- Proficiency in OOP languages (C#, Java, Python) with willingness to program primarily in C#
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (Selenium WebDriver, SpecFlow/Reqnroll, NUnit)
- Experience with HTTP debugging tools (Fiddler, HTTP Debugger)
- Understanding of cloud computing solutions (AWS, Alibaba Cloud)
- Familiarity with containerization and virtualization technologies
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab) and using Git
- Experience with monitoring and reporting tools (Grafana, Allure or similar)
- Basic knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs
- Experience with performance testing tools and processes (NBomber, JMeter, Locus, K6)
- Basic DB knowledge (MySQL, Firebird)
- English communication skills (written & verbal)
