Job Description
The Engineering Manager position at Blueflame AI plays a critical role in producing high-quality software solutions to support the Blueflame AI platform. This position requires close collaboration with our Client Success and Product teams and other members of our Engineering team to develop and implement superior software components, and ensure the reliability and performance of the platform. The ideal candidate will be organized, energetic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
This is a hybrid position in NYC with 3 days in office.
Responsibilities
Development: Design and implement the server-side logic and functionality for the Blueflame AI platform, ensuring efficient data processing and management
API Development and Integration: Design, develop and maintain APIs to enable communication between the server and client-side applications, as well as with third-party services
Security Implementation: Implement security measures to protect data and applications from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities, including encryption and authentication protocols
Collaboration with Front End Engineers: Work closely with front end software engineers to ensure seamless integration of server-side logic with user interfaces
Optimize Performance: Implement best practices for optimizing platform performance
Troubleshoot: Identify and fix bugs in the code
Documentation: Write and maintain documentation for code, processes, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team
Stay Updated with Trends: Keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies in back end development, including new frameworks, libraries, and tools
Mentor: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth
Review and critique pull requests
Participate in sprint planning and resource allocation
What You Bring
Expert knowledge of software design & architectural patterns
Expert knowledge of building scalable systems
Expert knowledge of Python
Expert knowledge of distributed systems and multi-threading
Expert knowledge of building/working with RESTful APIs
Expert knowledge of Mongo & Redis
Interest in vector databases (pgvector, timescale, etc)
Interest in machine learning techniques and LLMs
Ability to work independently and problem solve
Ability to lead a group of developers (senior & junior) and provide technical direction and guidance
Minimum 7-10 years of industry and/or technical experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or an equivalent engineering discipline
Work Location & Flexibility
This position is based in our New York City office and follows a hybrid work model. Employees in these locations are expected to work on-site a minimum of two days per week. Please note that specific business units or role requirements may necessitate additional in-office days based on team collaboration needs or operational priorities.

The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position based on a good faith assessment of the role and market data at the time of posting. Consistent with applicable law, each candidate’s compensation offer may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, your geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience along with the requirements of the position. This position may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or overtime if applicable. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a retirement savings plan, paid time off, and other employee benefits. Specific details will be provided during the interview process. Datasite reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
