About the RoleWe are hiring a Software Engineer to build the technical foundation of Fluidstack's hiring and people operations machine. This is a product engineering role with a focused domain: the full talent lifecycle. You will own, design, and ship internal tools and integrations that make our recruiters move faster, our hiring managers make better decisions, and our new hires ramp quicker. You will integrate deeply with ATS platforms, HRIS systems, and the broader HR tech ecosystem, and build custom surfaces using AI tools where off-the-shelf tooling falls short. Fluidstack hires at speed and at scale, and this role exists to make that growth possible.
You will:Own the talent tooling roadmap end-to-end: from scoping with Recruiting and People Ops to design, implementation, and production deployment.
Build and maintain integrations: with tools like Ashby, Rippling, and adjacent HR tech tools, surfacing data where it's needed and eliminating manual work.
Design and ship internal recruiting workflows: candidate pipeline dashboards, interview scheduling automation, offer letter generation, headcount planning views, and onboarding checklists.
Instrument the talent funnel: build analytics surfaces that give recruiting and leadership real-time visibility into time-to-fill, offer acceptance rates, funnel conversion, and retention signals.
Automate people ops toil: provisioning flows, new hire onboarding, e-signature routing, and cross-system data sync between ATS, HRIS, and IT systems.
Drive AI-assisted recruiting features: intelligent candidate matching, automated scorecard summarization, JD drafting tools, and sourcing enrichment pipelines.
Collaborate directly with recruiters and People Ops: identify the highest-leverage problems and translate them into well-scoped engineering solutions.
Maintain engineering quality: write production-grade TypeScript, enforce type safety and test coverage, and contribute to shared frontend/backend infrastructure.
3+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, with production TypeScript/React shipped to real users.
Strong backend skills: REST and/or GraphQL API design, background jobs, webhook handling, and database modeling (Postgres or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience integrating with third-party SaaS APIs - ATS (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever), HRIS (Rippling, BambooHR, Workday), or comparable platforms.
Comfortable owning a project end-to-end: requirements gathering, technical design, implementation, deployment (Vercel or equivalent), and iteration.
Ability to work in ambiguous problem spaces: translating operational pain points into clean engineering abstractions without over-engineering.
Fluency with modern React patterns: hooks, context, server components, form state management, and accessible UI.
Hands-on experience building on top of the Ashby API or Rippling API specifically.
Prior work in People Tech, HR automation, or internal tooling at a high-growth startup.
Familiarity with headcount planning tools and comp band data models.
Experience building AI-assisted productivity tools - LLM-backed summarization, classification, or recommendation features.
Exposure to identity and access provisioning (SCIM, SSO/SAML flows, automated onboarding/offboarding).
Prior work with workflow/automation frameworks (Zapier, n8n, Temporal) and knowing when to use them vs. build custom.
Track record of working directly with non-technical stakeholders and shipping tools they actually use.
The base salary for this role is $160,000 - $250,000 USD. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, we offer equity and a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
