Position Overview
We're searching for a Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer (React, Golang)) for Applied's Epic Benefits team. Our team is developing and maintaining robust web applications and micro services using React and Golang. As a Software Engineer/ Senior Software Engineer, you will collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, and members of a Scrum team to deliver high-quality technical solutions. As a member of Applied, you'll play a pivotal role in creating impactful solutions that drive innovation and efficiency for the business of insurance.
What You'll Do
As a Software Engineer, you will:

• Contribute to high-quality solutions for customers. Author code aligned with internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices. Advocate for alignment with standards through code review
• C ontribute to design discussions and code reviews to ensure alignment as we build and deploy a responsive user interface for our customers using React
• D esign, develop, and maintain automated testing for new and existing features
• A ssess the impact of changes to identify opportunities and risks
• C ollaborate with Application Architects to confirm technical solutions
• C ollaborate with Applied Design System team to integrate UX design frameworks
• C ontribute to documentation to support design discussions
• C ontinuously learn about new tools and technologies

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will also:

• Support the team with delivery by sharing comprehensive feedback during code reviews and guidance with complex technical problem-solving.
• Contribute to technical decisions by identifying opportunities and risks.
• Share knowledge of software development languages and frameworks as well as testing strategies
• Support with continuous improvement of internal processes and documentation to champion a principles-based approaches to design, implementation, and testing
• Collaborate with other teams to identify and develop integration solutions
• Promote Engineering best practices in the areas of writing code, unit testing, E2E testing, performance testing , CI/CD while using available AI tools.

T he position with our team could be an excellent match for a Software Engineer with:

• 3+ years of web development experience creating enterprise software using React
• 5 + years of professional experience building web applications and web services
• E xperience with React and Golang
• Experience creating Complex Forms; and addressing issues after implementing any feature
• K nowledge of Agile frameworks, ideally Scrum, and tools like Jira and Confluence
• U nderstanding of testing best practices
• U nderstanding of DevOps and CI/CD with knowledge of Kubernetes
• K nowledge of Cypress and RESTSharp to develop and maintain Automated end-to-end testing
• A bility to communicate in a team-oriented environment to clarify requirements and deliver solutions within committed timelines
• A bility to provide feedback on coding standards through code reviews
• P roven technical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and research abilities
• K nowledge of using GIT for commits, code reviews, merge conflicts, and release tags
• K nowledge of using Copilot using the latest models to generate, review, refactor, and optimize code

The position with our team could be an excellent match for a Senior Software Engineer with:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience providing guidance and support to members of the team
• Demonstrated experience working across software development languages and frameworks, such as React, Golang
• Architectural level experience with React; experience with React v18 will be plus
• Passion for continuously expanding knowledge of programming and web development while driving toward principles-based approaches for design, implementation, and testing
• Advanced knowledge and experience with modern test strategies and quality gating policies within CI/CT/CD pipelines
• H igh proficiency with UI and API Testing, with frameworks such as RESTSharp and Cypress
• A dvanced communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts to support others with complex problem-solving
• D emonstrated ability to advance discussions, debates, and reviews on coding and design elements while contributing to positive and constructive communication across the team
