Position Overview
As part of our Engineering organization, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of application code for back-end, server-centric components, as well as all related activities within the application development process.
Responsibilities
Develop software that takes best advantage of our cloud-based fully-distributed architecture
Can size a complex story or epic incorporating interdependent deliverables and resources
Helps keep a project that may span several user stories on track from start to finish.
Helps peers understand downstream implications of decisions.
Provide architectural input for software development efforts utilizing a thorough understanding of various technologies such as web applications, relational databases, information security, cloud-based services, etc.
Provide high-level analysis and design reviews to apply appropriate technologies and architecture to solve conceptual problems; ensure design, structure, and content meet performance guidelines
A proactive contributor in helping to inform product strategy and roadmap
Research and remain informed of new technology and tools, and how such technologies could be applied at TraceLink; recommend extension, expansion, and update of technology standards, practices, and methodologies
Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
Review and analyze current systems and processes, matched against user needs and business requirements to determine technical requirements
Work closely with our QA team; assist with test planning as appropriate
Integrate 3rd party components as appropriate
Required Skills and Qualifications
8+ years of software development experience
Experience in software development in Java
Experience in developing web-services and Web-based APIs
Experience with software development best practices: version control, defect tracking, unit testing, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, and collaborate with other disciplines
Experience with software development best practices, development methodologies, version control, defect tracking
Experience in building cloud-based applications on platforms such as Amazon Web Services
BS or equivalent required
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and clearly, and collaborate with other disciplines
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Experience developing a product in an Agile development environment
Experience with distributed computing architectures
Experience in large-scale, distributed database systems such as StarRocks or clickhouse
Experience with Big Data
Experience with NoSQL and/or SQL architectures
Experience in developing Enterprise Software (e.g. Supply Chain, ERP, Manufacturing)
Experience with the pharmaceutical industry
Experience with Amazon AWS or Azure deployment and services
Ability to clearly articulate the reasoning, decision criteria, and thought process used when working with product data and business objects, enabling that expertise to be documented, standardized, and leveraged by AI-driven tools.

Skills Required
- 8+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent expertise
- Strong Java development experience
- Experience building RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications
- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, secure development, and modern engineering practices
- Ability to independently deliver complex features from design through production
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience responsibly using AI-assisted engineering tools
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with RxJava or functional programming
- Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, microservices, and distributed computing
- Experience with large-scale enterprise SaaS platforms
- Experience designing versioned APIs and shared business object models
- Experience with identity, authorization, auditing, and security-focused design
- Experience developing software for regulated industries, pharmaceutical, supply chain, or manufacturing environments
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical delivery
