Mercer  is investing in a major, multi-year project to integrate a new centralized trading platform and modernize core systems using advanced, cloud-based technologies. As part of the Software Engineering team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across Europe to develop robust, scalable solutions for trading and portfolio management, working directly with business stakeholders and contributing to a dynamic, innovative technology environment. We will count on you to:

  • Deliver complete software solutions using best practices to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into compatible software solutions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of financial markets to engage effectively with business partners.
  • Collaborate with DataOps, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure projects use the most appropriate technologies.
  • Participate in production support, including monitoring and managing applications, APIs, overnight batches, and data feeds.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and bring innovative ideas to the team.
  • Represent the firm’s engineering brand through industry engagement (meetups, conferences, blogging, open source).
  • Contribute to a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the team.

What you need to have:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong Python skills, with production experience in building API services and microservices.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases; ability to write performant queries.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures (or a strong desire to learn).
  • Experience with Big Data technologies (Hive, Apache Nifi, Apache Airflow) is a plus, but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and support C#/.NET applications as needed, with new development focused on Python.
