Join us as we build capabilities that make Splunk products more reliable and help engineering teams work more effectively at scale. By reducing development friction, accelerating issue resolution, and strengthening software delivery, we enable developers to focus on creating value for our customers. At Splunk, we are surrounded by passionate people who care deeply about their work, our customers, having fun, and—most importantly—each other’s success.
Our team is part of the Developer Platform organization and focuses on improving the software development lifecycle. We build distributed services, tools, and frameworks that enhance developer productivity, product reliability, and delivery speed across Splunk. If you are passionate about engineering excellence and would like to help establish standards that enable developers to deliver high-quality software faster, we would love to hear from you.
Our customers include internal engineering teams, repository owners, engineering managers, and platform partners operating in complex development environments. We help them prioritize what matters, resolve issues efficiently, and deliver software with confidence.
We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to help us build and operate backend services, developer tooling, and cloud-native solutions for the broader Splunk engineering community. This role requires solid software engineering fundamentals, hands-on backend development experience, familiarity with cloud technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

- Build reliable backend services, APIs, automation tools, and data processing pipelines.
- Develop and operate solutions using cloud services and cloud-native technologies.
- Partner with engineering teams, repository owners, and platform teams to introduce and improve shared tooling and standards.
- Improve the maintainability, observability, diagnosability, performance, and reliability of the systems owned by the team.
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting development workflows, pre-production environments, and production services.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to diagnose and resolve service and integration issues when needed.
Requirements
- Professional software development experience with solid knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Python or another programming language, with experience building maintainable, well-tested applications or services.
- Experience developing backend services, REST APIs, automation tools, or data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, and automated testing.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with engineers and stakeholders across different teams.
- Experience with developer productivity, developer platforms, software development lifecycle tooling, or engineering quality initiatives is a plus.
What We Offer
- A team of highly capable and dedicated colleagues across engineering, product management, and platform organizations.
- The opportunity to build meaningful internal systems that improve engineering reliability and productivity.
- A collaborative and supportive environment where technical rigor, pragmatic execution, learning, and cross-team partnership matter.
- Opportunities to influence shared engineering practices and improve how software quality is measured and managed at scale.
- Balance. We want you to be successful outside of work as well. We trust our colleagues to manage their time and commitments responsibly and believe that balance helps create a positive working environment.
