We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer (Python & Cloud/Data Platform) to join our engineering team. This role is central to developing, enhancing, and maintaining robust Python-based solutions, while also ensuring their efficient deployment, scalability, and operational health through modern DevOps practices. You will leverage your expertise in Python to build and optimize critical services, integrate with data orchestration tools like Airflow, utilize Spark for data processing, and deploy applications on Azure using Docker and Kubernetes. Responsibilities:
- Core Python Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Python applications and services for our core business functions.
- Data Integration & Processing: Develop and optimize Python code for data ingestion, transformation, and processing, utilizing Apache Spark (e.g., PySpark) for large-scale data manipulation and integrating with data pipelines orchestrated by Apache Airflow.
- API Development: Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs and microservices in Python to support various application needs and integrations.
- Cloud Deployment & Infrastructure: Work closely with platform teams to define and implement application deployment strategies on Azure, leveraging Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for orchestration.
- Operational Excellence: Implement effective monitoring, logging, and alerting for Python applications and related infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and quick issue resolution.
- Collaboration: Collaborate extensively with product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Best Practices: Contribute to setting and enforcing coding standards, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices, including code reviews and documentation.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level support for Python applications, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in production environments.
- Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies, particularly in Python, data processing, cloud services, and DevOps, to continually improve our engineering practices and solutions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Primary Skill: Deep Python Expertise: Extensive professional experience in designing, developing, and deploying complex applications using Python.
- Data Processing: Solid understanding and practical experience with Apache Spark (especially PySpark) for data processing and analysis.
- Data Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow for building and managing data pipelines.
- Cloud Platform: Proven experience with Azure cloud services, particularly those relevant to application deployment, data, and compute.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Strong practical experience with Docker for containerizing Python applications and deploying to Kubernetes.
- Understanding of Airflow and modifying the dags/writing new dags for orchestration.
- Backend Development: Experience with building scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices in Python.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and software quality.
- Collaboration: Collaborative, proactive, and able to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, communicating complex technical concepts clearly.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience working in an Agile development environment.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of proven professional experience in writing and deploying high-quality Python code for production applications.
- Hands-on experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing.
- Practical experience implementing and managing data pipelines using Apache Airflow.
- Experience working with Databricks
- Proficiency with Docker for containerizing applications and Kubernetes for orchestration and deployment.
- Experience working with Azure cloud services
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A strong desire to produce high-quality software through cross-functional teamwork, testing, code reviews, and other standard methodologies.
- Nice to have good understanding of application deployment through CICD.
