The Team:
As part of the One Frontend (1FE) team, you work with a group of people that have deep expertise in their fields and help bring the largest frontend repository within Celonis to life. You’ll work closely with 40+ teams of engineers, including QEs, SREs, advocating shifting left and building the practices that make performant systems part of our DNA. You’ll work on the underlying CI/CD infrastructure and setup, governing the weekly release process and supporting the build and integration toolchain - including our state of the art Playwright implementation for UI testing - besides integration and unit tests. The Role:
As a Software Engineer, you'll have a huge impact on helping teams to design efficiently built systems. You’ll leverage your experience with Quality and Software Engineering to develop and help drive a consistent program for how we build and deploy software at Celonis, including standardizing on tool sets for measurement and reporting, as well as helping teams implement our frameworks on a daily basis. You’ll use your acquired understanding of our architecture needs to determine the right tools to deploy, and are ready to demonstrate what clean code looks like.
The work you’ll do:
- Work closely with engineering teams to develop a rigorous approach that provides early feedback and continuous improvement of application quality and release performance. Integrate state of the art software engineering and optimal tooling in the development and deployment process.
- You operate independently as part of the 1FE Team to ensure end-to-end system optimization through performance benchmarking, standardization, continuous testing and monitoring.
- Build and continuously evolve our Playwright UI testing framework and infrastructure that would allow functional, performance and accessibility tests to run in a self service manner through awareness of latest innovations in tooling and techniques. Mentor engineering to use and contribute to the test infra.
- Think beyond classical functional testing approaches to identify build and stability issues with in-depth design reviews, an infrastructure sanity checker or recommendation tools to improve the developer experience.
- Analyze release issues to understand the root cause of bottlenecks and propose solutions.
The qualifications you need:
- 4+ years experience as a software engineer on cloud/SaaS platforms
- Deep knowledge of build infrastructure, CI pipelines, monitoring and analysis of various frontend functional tests (Github, nx, Sonarcloud, Datadog, AWS, Azure)
- Expertise in Playwright and its infrastructure, as well as running large scale UI tests in parallel across shared resources
- Working knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript, Angular, shell scripting, Java
- Joy of doing RCA (root cause analysis) for incidents and solving build infra problems
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Bias for action, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and effectively with diverse fast-paced teams
