Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer – Level 4 to support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense Weapon System (GWS) in their development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of network and infrastructure equipment.
This position is located onsite on our Huntsville, AL campus.
Essential Job Duties:
Full stack software cloud development in an Infrastructure as a Service platform (IaaS)
Cloud Applications will span languages and toolsets including Python, Perl, Ansible, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure provisioning, PKI, and code analysis execution and finding remediation.
Develop cloud software which provides functionality for the GWS program as well as customer driven requirements
Develop cloud software which enables activity planning and constraint checking to achieve mission outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related experience; OR PhD with 4 year of related experience
US Citizenship and an Active DoD Secret level clearance or higher
Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
Knowledge of NIST SP 800-37 Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity fundamentals.
Experience with developing software, scripts and automation with various languages: C#, C++, Python, PowerShell and Bash
A functional understanding of how revision control systems (e.g., BitBucket, git, CVS, etc.) are used
Experience with Microsoft Windows technologies
Experience with Red Hat Technologies
Experience working with Windows Active Directory
Experience developing software integrating with SQL
Experience writing command line scripts and operating on the command line
Hands-on system troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
A strong understanding of virtual infrastructure: Ability to design, deploy, manage, maintain, and upgrade VMware vCenter, ESXI
High proficiency using Containers in Docker and/or Kubernetes
Knowledge of networking concepts like IP, TCP, UDP, port binding, NAT, layer 3, firewalls and analysis of live traffic using tools like tcpdump or wireshark
Experience with software network interfaces and troubleshooting networks (TCP/IP, UDP, LAN, VLAN, SNMP or others)
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, excellent oral and written communications skills, and strong interpersonal communication skills at all levels of employees and management
Demonstrated CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), GitHub, GitLab and Jenkins
