About the Role

As a Software Engineer Lead in our Datapay team, your primary focus centers on people management, where your technical proficiency becomes a driving force in creating software systems. Your role extends beyond traditional technical responsibilities to encompass leading, managing, and nurturing the development of a high-performing team of software engineers. You play a pivotal role in shaping the overall growth of our delivery practice through your technical prowess, effective leadership, and team development.

From a technical perspective, your role involves applying strong analytical, design, programming, and testing skills, along with contributing to the strategic direction of projects. In line with Datacom’s AI-first strategy, you will also lead the team in adopting intelligent automation and AI-assisted engineering practices.


About you

What you’ll bring

Technical Expertise:

· 5+ years of programming experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a large IT environment.

· Proficiency in a major relational database package (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Access, Sybase, or DB2).

· Familiarity with modern DevOps tools and utilities.

· Strong .NET/C# skills, and experience in integration, including APIs, webhooks, file integration patterns, and orchestrating integrations with partner or related applications.

· Familiarity with integration service platform components like API Manager, Developer Portals, and Integration Orchestration Tools is preferred.

· Solid grasp of iterative design, build, test, and deployment processes.

· A passion for leveraging AI to improve efficiency, enhance developer experience, and reduce cognitive overhead.

Agile and People Leadership:

· Proven involvement in constructing or contributing to successful agile teams.

· Extensive background in people management, demonstrating a solid understanding of principles and practices.

· Assurance of adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.

· Demonstrated ability to drive positive change across diverse cross-functional product delivery teams.

Communication and Collaboration:

· Effective presentation skills for conveying technical information across various levels.

· Ability to communicate technical concepts aligned with client business goals.

· Excellent communication skills for creating cohesive, collaborative, high-performing virtual teams.

· Passion for development practices and technologies, benefiting the entire engineering team.

· A strong interest in mentoring peers and building confidence with AI-assisted development tools and patterns.

Problem-Solving and Mentorship:

· Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Experience in mentoring and coaching peers.

· Skills in fostering strong collaboration between product and engineering teams.

· Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues and identify patterns of improvement across the SDLC.

· A customer-focused mindset, empathy, and practical problem-solving abilities are essential.

What you’ll do

As a Software Engineer Lead you are accountable for, but not limited to:

Team Leadership:

· Guiding, supporting, and mentoring a team of software engineers for high-quality work and professional development.

· Managing people delivering projects to ensure customer satisfaction.

· Selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel for efficient team operation.

· Providing supervision and guidance to junior Software Engineers.

· Acting as a technology authority in planning and recommending technical policies.

Project Analysis and Development:

· Conducting analysis of project and software requirements for specific assigned work packages.

· Developing software designs, coding, and testing according to project needs and company standards.

· Performing technical tasks, including unit test functions, to support internal quality control.

· Undertaking assigned integration planning and software building definition tasks.

· Providing proactive and reactive support services for client environment reliability.

Strategy and Planning:

· Recommending strategies and/or hardware/software enhancements to increase employee productivity.

· Acting as a technology authority in short- or long-term planning.

· Assisting in the preparation of project proposals.

· Identifying areas of design with potential for patents.

· Leading initiatives that promote sustainable, scalable development and reduce manual effort through AI-led augmentation

Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration:

· Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced team members.

· Collaborating with other Software Engineer Leads to identify areas for improvement and establish processes for enhanced collaboration.

· Staying up to date with industry trends and advancements in software development and applying this knowledge to improve development processes.

· Offering expert advice and guidance to other technology teams and business stakeholders for short- and longer-term goals.

· Completing and maintaining documentation focused on sharing AI-related learnings and automation solutions across teams.
