Job Context
We are hiring a Software Engineer IV to join the Delight engineering team. This role reflects Simpro’s Software Engineer IV expectations while operating in a founder-led, startup-style environment.You will own backend-heavy systems that power core product features and AI-driven workflows used in production every day. This is a high-autonomy, high-impact individual contributor role with direct influence on architecture, technical direction, and long-term system design.
What You’ll Do
What You Will DoDesign, build, and operate production backend services and APIs using Python and TypeScript
Build and operate AI-enabled systems integrating large language models and agent-style workflows
Own systems end to end, from design through production operation and evolution
Architect and run distributed, asynchronous, event-driven systems
Own core backend services or AI workflows used across multiple product areas
Drive technical decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and mitigate system-level risks
Contribute to frontend functionality as needed, with a clear backend focus
Write high-quality, well-tested code and raise the engineering quality bar
Collaborate closely with product and design in a fast-moving environment
Senior-level engineer with strong backend experience and solid full stack skills
Deep production experience with Python and TypeScript
Strong understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous architectures
Experience building AI-enabled products, or strong interest in doing so
Comfortable with high ownership, ambiguity, and minimal process
Proven ability to deliver complex systems independently
Clear communicator who can explain decisions and influence technical direction
Startup or 0→1 experience strongly preferred
