You'll get to build the brains behind smarter buildings. As a Software Developer III, you'll lead the design and development of the backend services that power our Cloud-based Building Management System. You'll solve complex technical challenges, influence architectural decisions, and drive the delivery of scalable, reliable software that has a real-world impact. Working alongside talented engineers and cross-functional teams, you'll help shape the technical direction of our platform while mentoring others and raising the engineering bar.What you will do:
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems and microservices.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of complex features and platform capabilities.
- Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions across APIs, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and microservices.
- Evaluate technical trade-offs to balance scalability, reliability, and delivery timelines.
- Leverage AI-assisted development to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality end-to-end solutions.

What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, software architecture, and design patterns.
- Proven experience designing and building distributed systems using microservices and AWS managed services (Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, EventBridge, etc.).
- Advanced proficiency in Python.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
- Strong proficiency with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing strategies, CI/CD, code quality, observability, and maintainability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams.
- A passion for solving complex technical problems, mentoring engineers, and continuously improving systems and engineering practices.
