Job Description:
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and maintain interfaces which enable front end products to provide innovative experiences by connecting them through the Chewy Microservices.
- Lead and participate in medium to large scale projects by reviewing requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering information, writing and developing code, conducting unit testing, communicating status and issues to collaborators, solving open issues and bug fixes, and ensuring on time delivery and handoff.
- Perform design and code reviews.
- Create and implement a shift left approach in terms of testing and test-driven development.
- Work with a geo distributed team.
- Work in an agile development environment, collaborating with Application Development and Architecture teams.
- Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
- Set engineering excellence to the team and have the aim to focus on scalability, resiliency, high availability & performance of applications.
- Collaborate with key partners and service providers to pursue use cases and assist in ensuring our internal customers' knowledge of our technology remains ahead of the curve.
- Create and evolve system-related documentation.
- Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to operational excellence.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Java-based components and interfaces, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to enhance code quality, productivity, and testing efficiency.
- Involve in designing, building, and maintaining interfaces that connect front-end products through Chewy Microservices, leading and participating in large-scale projects from requirements to delivery, conducting design and code reviews using AI-powered analysis tools.
- Implementing shift-left testing with AI-driven automation.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams, apply agile methodologies, and drive engineering excellence focused on scalability, resiliency, and high performance.
What you'll need:
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or related field of study and 3 years of experience required as a Software Developers, or related position/occupation.
- Alternate Education and Experience: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or related field of study and 1 year of experience required as a Software Developers, or related position/occupation.
- Experience must include 1 year with:
- Software engineering;
- Developing software components and/or services using Java 8, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JQuery, JSON, AngularJS, Tomcat, HTML5, CSS3, Spring MVC;
- Working with web services (SOAP/HTTP, REST);
- SQL and developing modules with relational databases;
- Server technologies;
- Quality assurance methodologies and automated testing using tools such as Selenium/Jmeter;
- E-commerce;
- Service-Oriented Architecture;
- GitHub and AWS or other cloud technologies such as GCP, building applications using AWS services, React Framework, GraphQL, API development or engineering at scale;
- AI-assisted software development tools, AI-driven observability systems, or machine learning-powered developer platforms; and
- Experience with any of the following: AWS, Terraform, Agile/Scrum, open-source technologies, responsive module design, continuous integration using Jenkins.

The base salary range for this role is $195,472 to $220,000 per year
- The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

- Experience with React framework, GraphQL, and API development/engineering at scale
- Experience with AI-assisted software development tools, AI-driven observability systems, or ML-powered developer platforms
- Experience with any of the following: AWS, Terraform, Agile/Scrum, open-source technologies, responsive module design, continuous integration using Jenkins
