SUMMARY

We are seeking a Software Engineer II with expertise in Rails and React to join our growing Atlanta-based Software Engineering team. As an established performer, you take on complex tasks with minimal supervision and deliver resilient software that achieves business results while taking ownership of your work and following through on your commitments. 

LOCATION

1 Glenlake Parkway - Atlanta, GA 30328 – The team operates on a Hybrid schedule (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Expensed travel to HexArmor Headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI every 6-8 weeks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, design, and evolve reliable, scalable full-stack services and applications, including API design and data modeling, for clearly scoped product capabilities across both frontend and backend components 
  • Deliver end-to-end features across the full software development lifecycle by implementing design, writing high-quality code, creating and executing tests, and contributing to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operational support for web-based experiences 
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, designers, and technical partners to understand requirements, break down work, and implement full-stack technical solutions for complex tasks and small projects that integrate with multiple services and domains 
  • Improve code quality, reliability, and performance across the stack by following and contributing to best practices in testing, observability, security, accessibility, and operational excellence for the services and user interfaces you work on 
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing for frontend and backend technologies, supporting a culture of learning and continuous improvement while steadily expanding your technical scope and impact 
  • Apply security best practices throughout development, including secure coding, dependency management, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in software development 
  • Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS 
  • Experience with relational databases (Postgres / MySQL), SQL, and building or consuming REST APIs 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-quality solutions 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience 
  • Experience debugging, monitoring, and supporting applications in production 
  • Experience with modern software development practices: Agile, source control, CI/CD, testing, and code reviews 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in RSpec, Jest, or similar testing frameworks 
  • Experience with Scrum/Kanban methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence) 
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset when working with cross-functional partners 
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar) 
  • Experience integrating with third-party APIs 
  • Knowledge and experience implementing Software Design Patterns
