We’re seeking a Software Engineer II who’s excited to explore new technologies, write elegant and robust code, and drive engineering excellence across the stack. In this role, you’ll contribute to rapid, iterative releases and have the opportunity to innovate across multiple areas of our products, from front-end user experiences to Cloud Native micro-services.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to work on and contribute to Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop from end to end. You will be part of a dynamic engineering organization focused on delivering seamless, high-performance solutions that empower hybrid work across platforms and devices. You will be responsible for: 

  • Designing and implementing Windows Cloud Experience features that enhance Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. 
  • Driving innovation across the stack, including areas such as front-end UX and back-end services, Graph API, authentication, telemetry, and data analytics. 
  • Building production-ready Agentic AI applications using LLMs, RAG, tool calling, MCP, and AI evaluation. 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and design to deliver end-to-end scenarios that meet customer needs. 
  • Executing the full software development lifecycle from architecture and implementation to deployment and live service operations—with accountability for service quality and resilience. 
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders and customers to gather feedback, address technical challenges, and continuously improve Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop product experience. 
  • Participating in engineering excellence initiatives, including code reviews, architecture discussions, and process improvements. 
  • Upholding high standards of craftsmanship, ensuring that solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with security and compliance principles such as Zero Trust. 
  • Solving complex technical problems and contributing to a culture of curiosity, agility, and continuous learning. 

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field. 
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience in designing, developing, testing and maintaining production-quality software. 
  • Hands-on experience with modern development languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent. 
  • Excellent technical design and troubleshooting skills in both front-end and back-end. 
  • Fluent English communication skills. 
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms or distributed systems. 
  • Experience with generative AI development, including prompt engineering, RAG, agent frameworks, and responsible AI practices. 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, and agile software development methodologies. 
  • Familiarity with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions is a plus. 
  • Solid understanding of security principles and experience implementing with them. 
  • A growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning, mentoring, and contributing to engineering excellence. 
  • Experience of collaborating across teams to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions.
