About the RoleWe are looking for a Software Engineer II, Full Stack to join our Identity Platform team in India. The team owns the identity graph and data capturing relationships between people, groups, tenants and apps and platform capabilities that can be leveraged as Intelligence by detection-engine decisions, customer-facing identity insights, and APIs used across Abnormal’s products.
In this role, you will work across the stack, with a meaningful focus on frontend engineering and modern web experiences. You’ll also contribute to scalable backend services and distributed systems, taking ownership of features from design through production. You’ll partner closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to solve meaningful customer problems and deliver secure, intuitive experiences.
Direct cybersecurity experience is not required. We value strong engineering fundamentals, product thinking, ownership, and the ability to learn quickly.
What You’ll Do- Design, build, test, and operate customer-facing full-stack features across frontend applications, APIs, and backend services.
- Develop intuitive, high-quality web experiences with strong attention to usability, performance, accessibility, and UI/UX fundamentals.
- Build scalable backend services and data access patterns that support identity insights and detection-engine workflows.
- Own well-scoped projects end to end—from clarifying requirements and designing technical approaches to implementation, rollout, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Work with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and event-driven or messaging-based architectures to support reliable product experiences at scale.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner engineering teams to define interfaces, make trade-offs, and deliver customer value.
- Write maintainable code, automated tests, documentation, and operational runbooks; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Participate in on-call and production support responsibilities, investigate issues, and improve system reliability and observability.
- Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong technical judgment and code quality.
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with experience building and operating production web applications.
- Strong full-stack development experience, including meaningful frontend contributions and solid backend fundamentals.
- Proficiency in a modern frontend framework, preferably React, and strong foundations in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience building backend services and APIs using Python, Go, Java, or a comparable language.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and software design.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and familiarity with containerization and deployment practices, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases and writing efficient, maintainable data access logic.
- Ability to take ownership of projects, communicate clearly, collaborate across teams and time zones, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, Kafka or equivalent messaging technologies.
- Familiarity with React ecosystem tools such as Redux or Next.js.
- Experience with Django, Django REST Framework, or similar backend web frameworks.
- Experience building security, identity, SaaS, analytics, or other data-intensive products.
- Experience improving observability, reliability, performance, or operational tooling in production systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development workflows.
- Build products that protect enterprises from evolving cyber threats and help customers make better security decisions.
- Work on high-impact, customer-facing systems at the intersection of AI, security, distributed systems, and modern web applications.
- Take meaningful ownership while learning from experienced engineers, product managers, and designers.
- Grow your technical scope and impact in an AI-native engineering organization.
- Join a collaborative team that values curiosity, intellectual honesty, customer obsession, velocity, and ownership.

What We Do
The Abnormal Security platform protects enterprises from targeted email attacks. Abnormal Behavior Technology (ABX) models the identity of both employees and external senders, profiles relationships and analyzes email content to stop attacks that lead to account takeover, financial damage and organizational mistrust. Though one-click, API-based Office 365 and G Suite integration, Abnormal sets up in minutes and does not disrupt email flow. Abnormal Security was founded in 2018 by CEO Evan Reiser, CTO Sanjay Jeyakumar, Head of Machine Learning Jeshua Bratman, and Founding Engineers Abhijit Bagri and Dmitry Chechik. The team previously built behavioral profiling and machine learning technologies at Twitter, Google and Pinterest that are being applied to solve a problem that costs organizations $1 billion per year, according to the FBI. The Abnormal Security platform stops targeted phishing, business email compromise and account takeover attacks that have never been seen before.
