What do SafetyCulture Engineers do?

SafetyCulture engineers will work on new and existing products that directly impact the lives of our customers around the globe. You’ll collaborate with other team members to investigate design approaches and evaluate technical feasibility. You’ll write high quality distributed system software and drive engineering best practices. Working in an Agile/Scrum environment you’ll establish architectural principles and mentor team members.


SafetyCulture engineers are versatile, able to simplify the complex and remove obstacles so builders can build. What will you be doing?

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software; 
  • Perform development and maintenance of key system features;
  • Demonstrate competency in all relevant technologies for the role, including understanding the impact of your code on upstream/downstream services;
  • When on-call, be able to resolve most issues independently and involve other teams when required. Have a clear understanding of the incident management process;
  • Contribute to creating and reviewing technical design documentation, run, books and knowledge base materials. 
  • Bring ideas and suggestions to improve the user experience, rather than just implementing the bare minimum. Have a strong customer-centric mindset and understand customer use cases. 
  • Conduct in-depth investigations, document outcomes, and discuss options with stakeholders when issues arise. 
  • Proactively communicate, ask meaningful questions, and get the answers needed to be highly effective team member. 
  • Drive best practices and engineering excellence by actively communicating, asking meaningful questions, to be a highly effective team member. 
  • Start taking on responsibilities to improve other abilities to deliver high-quality work, such as providing feedback, mentoring junior engineers, and driving a culture of candid feedback within the team. 
  • Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.

The Successful Applicant Will Have Experience In

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years relevant experience in software development.
  • Experience working with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis
  • Proficiency with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to:Golang, C#, C++, Python, Java, Typescript, Scala
  • Building and maintaining web applications, APIs, and microservices using ASP.NET.
  • Knowledge of serverless computing, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Designing and developing scalable and maintainable microservices using .NET.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) and RESTful services.
  • Experience with distributed systems or event-driven architectures.

The Successful Applicant Will Bring To The Role

  • Knowledge of best practices for the full software development life cycle; including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Track record of designing and building complex software systems and successfully delivering them to customers.
  • Exposure to architecting and designing large-scale distributed systems (e.g. SQL/NoSQL, scalability and fault-tolerance).
