Job Description:
The Software Engineer – Analytics Operations provides hands-on technical expertise to monitor, support, and maintain PDS data platforms and business-critical analytics applications, ensuring high availability, reliability, and operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, proactively resolving production issues, improving platform stability, and driving automation to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
We are seeking a highly skilled Analytics Operations Engineer to join our team. This role enables the business to operate efficiently by ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of PDS data platforms and analytics applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting data pipelines and UI applications, managing production incidents, ensuring data quality, administering user access, and driving automation and continuous operational improvements. The role requires strong technical expertise in cloud data platforms, troubleshooting, monitoring, and automation, along with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and deliver exceptional support to business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities and Major Duties
- Support, maintain, and enhance PDS data products, ETL pipelines, and analytics/UI applications built using DBT, AWS Glue, Databricks, and other cloud-native technologies.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents, ensuring high availability, reliability, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Develop pipeline enhancements, bug fixes, and operational automation to improve platform performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and enhance the React UI based applications as per the business requirements.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and operational stability through validation, monitoring, root cause analysis, and proactive issue resolution.
- Familiarity and experience with Cloud infrastructure management and work closely with the Cloud engineering team
- Collaborate with Analytics Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and Business teams to support feature releases, production deployments, and continuous improvements.
- Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and operational documentation to improve observability and enable efficient support.
- Stay current with modern data and AI technologies, including Databricks, Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI-assisted development (Vibe Coding), and leverage them to drive operational excellence.
Qualifications/Degree/Certification/Licensure
- Computer Science, Physics, Math, Pharmaceutical Science, or Engineering area of study preferred
- 3-5 years of experience with operations and production support, and optimizing the supporting process
- Hands-on experience with AWS Glue and Databricks
- Proficiency with SQL, SPARK and Python
- Knowledge of data engineering tools (AWS, Airflow)
- Experience with version control (e.g. Git, SVN) and Agile development
- Proven analytical and problem-solving ability
- Excellent communications and presentation skills. Ability to explain complex analyses and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with AI Agents, Agentic AI, RAG, Vibe coding
- Familiarity with our toolkit desired: work information process tools (JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, MS suites); data-related tools (Oracle, Redshift, PostgreSQL, CDP Impala, Athena)
- Good to have knowledge on DBT, React, Type Script/Java Script, APIs using Python, FastAPI
Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:
- Prior experience in global life sciences especially in the GPS functional area will be a plus
- Experience working internationally with a globally dispersed team including diverse stakeholders and management of offshore technical development team(s)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
