Job Description:

Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our Mainframe Security and Compliance team.   In this role, you will be a key member of the development team and will focus on building, testing, and supporting leading-edge Mainframe Security solutions used by many of the world’s largest companies. 


We are looking for an engineer who is highly motivated, team oriented and has excellent organization and problem-solving skills.  The individual and team goal will be to develop and maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.   


Preferred work Location for this position is in our Lisle, IL office.


What you will be doing in a typical week:

  • Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to analyze and translate business requirements and write high quality, testable code that meets the functional specifications, quality standards and Agile Definition of Done

  • Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.

  • Researching and experimenting with new technologies that improve our software

  • Interact with customers for support issues, demonstrations, and feedback sessions

  • Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries

  • Drive opportunities to increase efficiency and productivity through best practices


Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot. 

  • Experience in writing unit/integration tests using JUnit 

  • Typically, 5 or more years of experience in mainframe software development or a related field.

  • Experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous testing tools such as Jenkins, and SonarQube

  • Exposure to Digital Certificate Management (CRUD operations on Certificates)

  • Exposure to Cyber Security and Compliance related topics.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

  • Experience in software testing methodologies such as BDD and TDD

  • Working experience in an Agile Software Development environment

  • Effective communication skills



Other Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in working with CAs (Certificate Authorities)

  • Experience in other programming languages such as python, C/C++.

  • Solid knowledge of z/OS, Unix/USS, SMP/E, z/OSMF and Endevor

  • Expertise in relational databases

  • Good Knowledge in Agile tools like Jira and Rally.

  • Familiar with QA and DevOps concepts and practices such as test automation, CI/CD etc.

  • Experience with code scanning tools such as Blackduck and Coverity


Preferred Education:

Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in a software related field.


Work Experience:

Typically, 5 years’ experience in software development or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000  - 146,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
