About the Data Solutions Team
The Data Solutions team at iCapital specializes in automating the retrieval and management of data for alternative investments. We aggregate and deliver accurate reports for both liquid accounts and alternative investment data. Our team offers a tech-enabled alts service, leveraging AI/ML-powered technology and processes to collect, structure, and share alts data with any required system, reducing the time between valuation updates to clients.
About the Role
iCapital is seeking a dynamic engineer to lead our Data Solutions Engineering team. This pivotal role involves designing and implementing cutting-edge systems that power the iCapital platform, with a focus on building high-performance APIs and intuitive applications. We are looking for a seasoned engineer with deep technical expertise and a passion for delivering exceptional products to our clients.
You will collaborate closely with our Product Management team throughout the software development lifecycle, detailing requirements, reviewing work in progress, and addressing issues identified during testing. Our platform is built on a micro-services architecture, utilizing technologies such as Scala, Ruby, Node.js, and Python. If you're not already familiar with these technologies, you'll have the opportunity to learn and master them on the job, with support from management and mentors.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Product team and other leaders to build and execute the engineering roadmap for the Data Solutions business.
- Architect and build cloud-native services.
- Actively participate in stand-up meetings and peer code reviews as part of our standard SDLC and Change Management Process.
- Work closely with the Product Management team to detail requirements, review work in progress, and address issues found via testing.
- Present the engineering roadmap to management.
- Foster and promote a positive engineering culture within the team.
- Mentor and support team members in adopting new tools and technologies.
Qualifications
- Degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
- 15+ years of web-based application development experience.
- Proven experience in leading engineering teams.
- Experience in Ruby, Scala, Node.js, or Python is a plus.
- Understanding of Identity Management and SSO is a big plus.
- Knowledge of AI/ML practices especially around document parsing.
- Demonstrated understanding of relational or NoSQL database concepts and modeling practices.
- Passion for actively learning new technologies.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Collaborative approach to software development.

Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $220,000 to $250,000. iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus. Employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes an employer matched retirement plan, generously subsidized healthcare with 100% employer paid dental, vision, telemedicine, and virtual mental health counseling, parental leave, and unlimited paid time off (PTO).
We believe the best ideas and innovation happen when we are together. Employees in this role will work in the office Monday-Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday.
