Research Engineering is responsible for FactSet’s breed & industry leading Market Data, deep-dive Reporting and Research management products highlighting FactSet’s proprietary content to the global financial community. These products are used by thousands of Asset Managers, Investment Bankers, and corporate clients around the world every day to assist with investment decisions, market monitoring, company and economic analysis and sharing of buy/sell decisions and the presentation of results. The Research Solutions SBU is focused on innovating the foundation of FactSet’s product offering. By marrying robust content, intuitive applications, and innovative technology, we defend and grow our footprint across several key user classes including investment banking, sell-side research, buy-side research, private equity, portfolio managers, traders, capital markets, investor relations, and media. This SBU contains Core Applications (Universal Screening, Company & Security Analytics, Industry and Markets, Filings, Ownership, Research, News, Charting) and our industry leading RMS suite. The SBU closely partners with the Content and Platform Horizontals on strategy for FactSet Web, Mobile, and much of FactSet’s content offering.

SUB-PROCESS BRIEF

FactSet Wealth Engineering Group, a part of FactSet’s Deal Makers & Wealth SBU, is looking for a talented Software Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining various web based applications using latest JavaScript frameworks and server side technologies.

A software engineer is typically involved in all phases of development – from design through implementation. Software engineers work with various other departments to ensure that FactSet’s products and technologies are responsive to the changing needs of the investment community. Ideal candidates must have a thorough knowledge of Object Oriented programming, Software Engineering principles and best practices. Individuals must possess a high degree of creativity, strong talent for problem-solving to conquer complex technical obstacles, wide range of discretion and judgment and work independently. While working on different projects, Software Engineers at FactSet use a combination of the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.

• Proactively suggest improvements to applications and processes that enhance the client experience or improve performance.

• Troubleshoot issues well and independently work with the appropriate resources/parties to resolve them.

• Participate in the maintenance and support of the solution.

• Participate in agile development process and ceremonies.

• Work with the Product Development team to understand project requirements and work with other Engineers on the technical design of those solutions

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

• 3 - 5 years of experience building web applications

• Experience using advanced JavaScript, HTML, CSS, TypeScript , Vue / Angular / React

• Experience working with Git, Perforce or SVN

• Willingness to work as a member of a team, participating in peer code reviews and maintaining project and operational documentation

• Ability to articulate and quickly adopt development best practices. Should be quick learner and open to learn new things.

• Ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people

• Organized, self-directed, and resourceful with the ability to appropriately prioritize work in a fast-paced environment

GOOD TO HAVE SKILLS

• Experience working with latest Vue or Angular or similar JavaScript MVC frameworks

• Experience working with NodeJS, ES6, Webpack

• Experience with consuming and developing RESTful services and APIs

• Proficiency with Design Patterns and latest Web Architectures

• Experience in unit testing and its frameworks

• Ability to create and review documentation and test plans

• Experience working with remote teams
